Hi All,

I'm new to the group and Suzie invited me ( thanks Suzie ) and I'm glad to be here.

I have a question. Re Hives.

Is there any basis to Hives being caused by systemic yeast infection?

Recently I have been getting a few hives flare up every now and then.

I hate to get ugly and being new to the list and all, but I was jogging on the aerobic jogging device and I got a patch of ingrown hairs where my legs rub together ( need to lose 20 pounds ) and it turned into an ingrown pimple. I popped it and puss and blood came out and then I did the unimaginable I poked it repeatedly with a needle. It got infected. I became intimidated by the sore and frustrated with burning my skin with tea trea oil, and went to the doc, and did something I haven't done in many years. I took an antibiotic for it, namely Cephalexin.

Needless to say, since taking that ( stopped taking it about a week and a half ago I guess it was ), I have been having these little flare-ups of hives. I thought it was all cleared up and was sure it was a reaction to the drug, and possible a systemic yeast caused by the drug. Just how I had a small single solitary hive on the back of my right arm. Is this a yeast issue? ARe hives related to systemic yeast, or something else. I thought they were related to an internal allergy to some internal toxin.

I had a faint rash on my arm ( under side ) for a while, that began before I started the cephalexin but got worse and spread to both arms after quitting it, but that never did itch so I was inclined to think it wasn't yeast related, and besides it has for the most part gone away completely ( every now and then it looks like it Might be threatening to flare back up, but then it goes back down.

I've been treating myself for Yeast, due to the Cephalexin, because I had some burnjing on urination and the doc said I didn't have a uti. and that seems to have cleared up.

I've cleaned sugar out of my diet, and am trying to eat a diet that will encourage friendly flora while discouraging yeast. Been taking acidopholus culture.

The bottom line of my question is this: Are Hives a potentially Yeast related rash? Should I continue to treat myself for yeast?

I also had ( AFTER the cephalexin ) a rash break out on my upper thigh in the shape of a half moon literally, the straight line running along the groin/panty-line, and extending in a semicircle. I thought maybe it erupted cuz I put some orange essential oil in the bath and didn't stir the water to mix -- maybe that spot got hit with the oil when i was submerging into the bath. It was like tiny blisters that were skin colored and itched and when I took a cotton swab saturated in lavendar and tea tree and drug it across the rash it immediatley became about 3 times worse, so I quit doing That to it and after a fwe days the bumpies went away the skin turned almost normal but a little leathery and dry. Now that rash is gone and I had wondered if it too was some kind of yeast side effect of the cephalexin gotten under my skin. It is gone now but I"m mentioning it to give a full history of the past few weeks irritating events.

The folliculitis that I got the cephalexin for is gone.

The half moon rash by the groin is gone.

And the rash on the arms is all but completely gone.

Yesterday i didn't have any hives, and today I just had the one. Just now, right after dinner.

Does this all sound like systemic yeast troubles to you guys? Or is my system just trying to detox from the cephalexin?

I do not have any std ( I had to say that becasue of the area of the half moon rash -- I made my doc test me, just to be on the safe side, as I sit in a steam room sometimes, and steam rooms are sloppy and unchlorinated ).

Ok. I think that covers it.

Blessings,

Cathie
