Guest guest
Dear Tiesha, I doubt that your book is outdated. But it may not be 'all' inclusive. To date NO one review book or text book on the market is 'all' inclusive. What ever you study and do not understand be sure to post your questions here, and I/we will help you to understand the best we can. It is always a good idea to have two study guides. I have a study guide book review in my 'files' section. Just scroll through the folders/listings and you will find it. Good luck and see ya in your postings! Guest guest
I looked on-line for flash cards I could use on my laptop and iPhone. I am using Flash Card Machine and uploaded over 200 drug cards on to it yesterday. It works very nicely. You can make your own cards, or look for ones others have made. Now I can study anywhere, anytime. I am using on-line materials from this site (Jeanetta's PTCB Study Group)and Tech Lectures. I also have two books and a CD to use. The first book is Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam Review by . The second is Mosby's review for PTCB. I had called the PTCB for help finding the best, most accurate and up to date materials to use for preparing, but they said they are not an educational organization and could not help me. The materials I have so far have many errors, and this worries me. This week I will get Joe Medina's book and CD for the last two week study push. It is supposed to be very good. I did take on-line tests(not free) from the PTCB and ICPT. I keep testing at 75% . To pass the real test you need 76.8%. I feel that is too close for comfort. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I can do to be as prepared as possible? Thanks Elena
Guest guest
Dear Elena, I am not sure where you got that figure of 76.8 % in order to pass at a 72% scaled points. 650 out of 900 of the PTCB points is 72%. since we do not know HOW each questions is scored, some are weighted with more points than others, I always suggest at least 85% on the PTCB practice exam. I am not sure about the scoring of the ExCPT and I know little about their practice exam. Pehaps you or someone else can enlighten us. I usually suggest www.studystack.com and my students love Quizlet and I know others who like Quia. I am wondering if you have tried my automatically graded quizzes? See the files section for that. Of course my math section, hospital and law sections. I would spend more time on pharmacology, judging from some of the last 'after the test posts' I think PTCB has finally taken my advice and asked more pharmacology questions! Anyone else have any advice? Jeanetta Mastron CPhT BS Pharm tech educator Founder/Owner of this site
Guest guest
Hi Elena, I think you have done pretty much all that can be asked in the preparation of the Pharmacy Technician Certification exam. I am sorry that you had to pay for Practice Exams by those who offer the exam, seems like a way of making more money off of those who want to better themselves as they are paying to take the exam itself, but all said and done your scores appear to be right on target to passing the national exam itself. So I would not be concerned as to whether you will pass the exam, but simply by how much! Good Luck!
