Thanks for the info. I live in Atlanta so I don't see for PT but my latest PT (after a fight) is very good and I think one of the best in the SE. She does the Starband for the Children's Hospital here too so she is used to banded babies. I'll keep you updated, thanks, Natasha and Aidan (DOCbanded since 3/13/03)

Would fight against it? Natasha,Well, yes and no! I bought it when he was 5 mos. old, but my pt wanted to wait until the DOC band therapy was over, and felt it was too big for him then anyway- she didn't want to cut it too much and then it would be forever too small. When we first had it fit, he was about 8 mnths, just finished the DOC band- and it was fit for a few days, I think we had him in his high chair for about 15 minutes at a time, and it did bug him a little, and we realized it was not fit property with some red marks it left by his ear. So our pt wanted sometime to read KKR's book and then fit it properly with the struts in the right places. By the time she fit it he was going on 10 mnths, and very active, already walking. We had to change pt's due to insurance, and this one was very familiar with the collar, so we felt good about that. She fit him and he crawled around with it on while we were there playing with toys, worked at keeping him midline, and he was fine with it there. She saw him that one time and discharged him from pt because at that point, he was resolved, had no delays and was ahead of milestones, very midline (made me feel really good!). We talked about keeping it on him, but he did get even more fidgety with it, and my pediatrician was very against it, thought it was a strangulation device (I told her its never on him unsupervised, and never in the carseat). She kind of made me feel like we were overdoing it at that point (of course, I took that with a grain of salt, she was not for the band either, until after the fact of correction). It's recommended to get rid of that last degree of tilt, when the child is pretty stretched out. I would definetly recommend it to you if you feel that last bit of tilt is lingering more often than not- and we did see results for the short time he wore it. Your seeing Karmel-Ross, right? If so you are in great hands as you know, and I would follow whatever regimen she wants- she's the tort goddess after all;) We also found those righting exercises (where you tilt them towards the tort side) very helpful in working on strengthening the opposite muscle to pull that head midline when the tort muscle has enough slack to let that happen. Good luck to you! I hope this helps somewhat!' momFor more plagio info

Besides the fact that my efforts at repositioning have been completely unsuccessful, I keep thinking about this: If it will take at least 3 months for the constant pressure of a band to work, how on earth could repositioning work on a child who is obviously not going to spend 23 hours a day laying on one side of her head?! I just don't understand how repositioning can have any signficant effect...

I'm so angry that doctors keep telling parents to just reposition.,I agree! I don't think they realize what a task this is. I would really like a Doctor to have to do this 24/7 and see how successful they are at it. The repo success stories I feel all depend on severity, and I have heard some call their efforts fanatical to get it to work entirely. JMO!' mom
