Guest guest
As I recall, in the Udo Erasmus book, Fats that heal Fats that Kill, he recounts how a Californian Doctor became curious about snake oil, checked it out & found that it basically became known in the US at the time of building the railroads, when Chinese workers shared their medicine with other railroad workers. After establishing that the Chinese water snake`s oil does indeed contain the omega 3 essential oil, this Californian Doctor apparently wrote a paper on the subject & submitted it to the New England Journal of Medicine. ---It was never published! ..........Sound familiar? -Am I starting to see a pattern here??? If my memory serves me correctly, it was also in the Erasmus book that I read a remarkable explanation of at least some of the roots of the current narrow, protectionist(?) mentality of contemporary pharmaceutically led medicine! ( -Since it`s some years since I read the book, my apologies if any errors have crept into the following account, however I believe the broader picture is still clear: ) Apparently, early last century, MD`s were utilizing a far wider base of treatments than now, many approaches now forgotten or dismissed by the current mainstream as "fringe" or "alternative" (-or anecdotal?? -snake oil even???) Anyway, I believe that it was Rockefeller who, with his interests in coal (or was it oil?) was keen to develop uses for the by-products of his industrial prosesses.(Or something like that!) -Anyway, the point is, he made money available to, (ie.bought) the medical schools who were prepared to focus on a pharmaceutically orientated approach to medicine! -Guess what happened next!!! Explains a lot, doesn`t it? -Get them young & impressionable & they`re yours for life, (most of them don`t even realize they`ve been programmed: - & it`s a self perpetuating system -neat,huh!) & things outside it are, well, "snake oil!!" Remarkable how language evolves -and devolves! (As we now know, Patent medicine turned out to be a pretty lucrative concept!) (I seem to remember that Rockerfeller also attempted to make the medical schools white, upper class & male!) Similarly, awareness of the personalities & priorities of those associated with the origins of that organization which has been described as the guardian of big business, namely, the FDA helps in understanding how the present situation has come to be....... Initial motivation is very important in terms of eventual consequences. Be happy! Gerald
