Guest guest
Most people with neurological disorders see neurologists for medical treatment. However, physiatritry is another medical specialty (not well known) that treats neurological disorders and has a more progressive approach. The name of the specialty is Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR). You can look all this up on the internet. These doctors are like a combination of neurologist, internist and orthopedic surgeon, but they don't do surgery. They provide manage medications and oversee physical rehabilition. They also perform diagnostics and many provide pain management. My experience (as a rehab nurse) is that they have much more personality and have a more positive outlook than neurologists. So if you are disgusted with your neurologist, a physiatrist may be another option to consider.
