EPA

On December 2, EPA published a proposal to classify hazardous

pharmaceutical waste as universal waste, a category that also

includes batteries, mercury-containing equipment, and pesticides.

Since the passing of this proposal would affect pharmacies, hospitals

and other healthcare facilities EPA is accepting comments until

" The United States Pharmacopeia is seeking input on a draft of a new

informational chapter on physical environments that promote the safe

use of medications. The deadline for comment is February 15, 2009 "
