Guest guest Posted December 15, 2008 Report Share Posted December 15, 2008 i already did not pass the exam the first time. and i am going to take it in feburary so i really need to pass this time. i was not expecting the test to be on computer when i arrived to take test. i am scared that i will not pass again. i need help to make sure i ace this test. i could not believe i didnt pass when i could miss 25! i need some serious help! From: Jeanetta Mastron CPhT BS Chemistry <rxjm2002@...> Dear dcwbys, I see you have been a member since early November. Are you saying that you recently took the exam and failed? I have some questions for you: 1. How long did you study for? 2. What books or other resources did you use? 3. Did you use this site to study? Did you use the tutorials? 4. What areas of pharm tech did you need more help with? Are you willing to use the " A Plan for Study " document I sent you? But a good Calendar or Appt book or make a schedule on a computer document. If you know your trade and generics, math and law that is more than half the battle. So concentrate on those areas for now. You have about 6 weeks to Feb 1, 2009. Divide the Top 200 drugs by 5 = 40 drugs. Make hard copy OR electronic flash cards. I suggest the electronic since you do not like computer too much it will help you to overcome the fact that the exam is on a computer. Devote one week to each list. The last 6th week do an overall testing of all of the previous lists. Find a good math study book, borrow, buy on ebay used or book store new. Divide the major areas of math in the book by 5. Devote one week to each section. If you can breeze through a section, then reschedule and repace your self. (You can also use my tutorials instead of or in addition to the book). Post yourquestions when you just can't find the answer or figure it out. Find the 5th Folder of my Files section for all Tutorials. Find the Law and Ethics Folder. Study the federal laws that are listed. IF you are given any scenario, choose the most stringe law (state or Fed) that applies. You do not need to know the state laws to pass this exam, only be able to understand the laws that are given inthe scenario and to apply the rule. Go to my 5th Folder of my Files section and scroll to the Quizzes folder. There you will find quizzes that I have made in word and also directions to the My Quiz Lab which is now My Grade Book. YOu can take the quizzes on line for practice as many times as you like and for free. Also check out the 5th Folder of my LINKS section of this site for the same. In the folder for quizzes you will find links to pharm tech practice quizzes on line. While I rarely recommend it, because there are so many FREE resources to practice, YOU may want to (after much study) do a paid practice online at the PTCB and ExCPT sites. This will give you better feedback and also prepare you to take the actual online/on computer exam. Feel free to post your questions and concerns.
