Those of you interested in chelation may want to check out http://www.evenbetternow.com/autism.html and see the section on "Another Powerful, Natural Detoxifying Agent" about half way down the page. Sounds a bit like voodoo but is cheap, should be harmless at worst and someone I know of with ALS thinks it could be making a difference. I have just ordered some but given the weight of it it is coming via sea freight to Australia so will be a while before I can try it. Those of you in the USA should be able to get hold of it nice and quickly to try.

Hi, I remember reading about the clay baths too.

I would like to try it myself being I'm very familiar with my own biomedical condition, I could tell you if it really works or not. If I get a chance I think I should try it just to see. I mostly use Epson salts or dead sea mineral baths myself and for my son. They work pretty good.

heres a link for the message on the biomedical group if you'd like to see the posts for different detox baths: (i'll copy and paste the text due you would need to join the group to see the posts but here's both link and text:

A mom just yesterday passed this info along to me. I know this is a

little different than the magnetic clay, but she has had great success

with the bentonite clay. The only thing with taking baths in clay, is

be sure to read the last line of this, as I imagine they could mess up

some septic systems if not used right...

She also said she rotates the baths, and has found that's more

effective than using only one...ok, hope this helps.

Detox Baths for Purification

General Information:

You may experience flu-like symptoms during the detoxification because

your body is ridding itself of poisons. You can get some relief from

these symptoms by taking baths using epsom salts (1 to 2 cups) and

baking soda (1 cup) in a tub of water and soaking for 20 minutes

(soaking for more than 20 minutes may cause you to get too exhausted).

On off days, you can put 1 cup of apple cider vinegar in the tub and soak.

Detox Baths:

(NOTE: Baths should be taken on a daily basis during detox and rotated,

switching to a different type of bath each day. After detoxing, use

whichever bath seems appropriate to meet your current needs.)

EPSOM SALTS AND GINGER:

This bath opens pores and eliminates toxins and also helps to eliminate

pain. Stir one cup of epsom salts and 2 tablespoons of ginger in a cup

of water first, then add to the bath. Do not remain in the tub for more

than 30 minutes.

SALT AND SODA:

This bath counteracts the effects of radiation, whether from X-rays,

cancer treatment radiation, fallout from the atmosphere, or television

radiation. 1 cup of baking soda and 1 to 2 cups of ordinary coarse salt

(or epsom salts or sea salt) to a tub of water. You can soak for 20

minutes.

EPSOM SALTS, SEA SALT, AND SESAME OIL:

This bath helps with dry skin and stress. Take 1 cup of Epsom salt, 1

cup of sea salt (from the health food store), and 1 cup of sesame oil

and put into a warm to hot tub of water and soak for 20 minutes. Pat

yourself dry.

VINEGAR BATH:

This is used when the body is too acidic. This is a quick way of

restoring the acid-alkaline balance. 1 cup to 2 quarts of 100% apple

cider vinegar to a bathtub of warm water. Soak 40 to 45 minutes. This

is excellent for excess uric acid in the body and especially for the

joints, arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, and gout.

BENTONITE BATH:

A fast detoxification method. Soak 2 to 4 pounds of bentonite clay in a

flat container overnight to dissolve it. Then add this to a tub of

water. With 2 pounds of bentonite you would soak one hour; with 4

pounds you would soak only about 30 minutes. The more bentonite used,

the faster the detoxification. (NOTE: While bentonite is a great

adsorber, it is widely used to seal well-casings and ponds. It would

very likely seal many septic systems too, costing thousands to repair.

Use sparingly or with caution!)

Hi everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I was just reading some on-line info about Clay Baths used for detoxifiying the body....sounds too easy and too good to be true.

Has anyone tried these clay baths with kids on the spectrum??? Any insights would be helpful!

Thank you!

Yes, we have tried them and find them very helpful particularly as a night time routine with some lavender and soft lights or a few candles. This can really help with sleep as well. Good luck!

For children, Check with a good DAN doctor for your child's needs. I don't know about using detoxing baths for children under 2 so I would see a DAN doctor for sure about that if thinking of young children.

Your question:

Yes, do keep the kids from drinking the bath water. A little won't hurt much but it's best not to drink it. And Yes, it's best to rinse your child thoroughly after a detox bath because otherwise the bath salts/clay can act as a transdermal effect and keep detoxing. This happened to me once. I decided to not rinse after the epsom salt bath and after a few hours I could feel it was too much for me so I took a shower and rinsed off good. (some possible side affects if not rinsed well, headache, nausia, etc.)

Follow the instructions on the bath salts/clays etc. Most of the time the directions on bath salts, clays are for adults.

Yours, n

I read that with Epsom salts, you're supposed to keep the kids from

drinking the bath water. Is the same true for clay baths? And do you

have to give them a regular bath when they're done? Thanks!
