Guest guest
Hi there, I don't know a lot about LDN and neuropathy other than there are several folks on the board that are using LDN for this and fibromyalgia as well. What kind of neuropathy does your friend have? Is it peripheral? More of a neuritis (inflammatory/rheumatic) type? What areas of the body are most affected? I suffer from peripheral neuritis/neuralgia due to chronic pernicious (B12) anemia. Or it might be fibromyalgia, don't know for sure yet. My doc is still searching for the etiology. I have not begun my course of LDN therapy yet but will start immediately after I have my liver biopsy. Once the doc sees the status of my liver, the HCV and which genotype I have I'll have a better idea of how I'll need to do the LDN treatment. (I have HepC or HCV, among other things & an autoimmune thyroid disease). Anyhoo....from my research I have come to learn that LDN therapy would be helpful for all of these conditions. I believe that a woman with fibromyalgia said LDN helps with her morning stiffness and daily pain level, which is decreasing, while energy is increasing. That seems to be true for MSers and just about everyone. Since LDN increases the body's natural endorphins (painkillers) it is regarded as an effective treatment by many folks. Still no clinical trials to prove this, only anecdotal evidence. Check out Dr. Bihari's main site on LDN and you may find some links to info on using LDN for neuralgias. Most people will warn you, however, that the first few weeks of treatment may actually exascerbate pain and stiffness as the body sets to work healing itself. Hope this was helpful! Good luck, Lara
