Hello joe.rayco,

Congrats on passing the PTCB!

go to Career Builder or AAPT Career Center at

www.pharmacytechnician.com

Use google ans key words: pharmacy technician jobs

You will find some great sites that way!

YES you need to register in California! You need to do this fast

because I am part of a task force to try to get bill to pass that

would require education in CA. So go NOW!

Different types of demands and duties, different types of stress:

Retail = deal with public, insurance and adjudication, prior

authorization. Deal with possible delays of meds being ready when pts

wants them. Need to be more people oriented. May have some day and

night shifts, rarely has graveyard shifts. May work the weekend, may

or may not work holidays check to see if the Rx is closed or not on

holidays. Usually pays less than hospital long term. May become a

trainer or lead tech. May lead to a different job in prior

authorizaiton at managed care.

Hospital = deal with nurses and other healthcare professionals,

fill cassetts and robots, make IV's, deal with preparation and

dispensing of meds under emergency situations. Need to be more math

and lab oriented. Think: the nurse AND patient are your customers,

not jsut the patient! Various shifts around the clock. Usually work

the weekend and holidays when a new tech. Has more opportunities that

retail setting. can be come purchaser, trainer, supervisor, in charge

of automation, in charge of IV's or in charge of a satellite.

Hope this helps!
