Guest guest
For the few of you who knew Larry Nesmith CPhT, you knew a great man who cared deeply about the Pharmacy Technician profession and was instrumental in pursuing the advocation of this vocation in instruction and leadership among several national organizations. To me Larry was a guide in allowing me to pursue the advocation of this profession as well, although, I will never fill the shoes of this remarkable man who graciously did what needed to be done so well. Larry, you will be missed by the hundreds of individuals who you mentored and the thousands you shared in your goals for the betterment of the Pharmacy Technician profession! Joe Medina, CPhT President/Founder Tech Lectures Tech Lectures will honor an organizational order for one Pharmacy Technician program, up to 10 students maximum (face value: 540.00), for its Review Manual/Workbook for the National Exam at no charge in honor of Larry Nesmith, CPhT. If your Pharmacy Technician Program is interested email me and ask about the Larry Nesmith Review Manual's offer. in addition for members of this forum, Tech Lectures will offer up to 5 individual Review Manual/Workbooks for those preparing for the national exam and in need of that extra help. Again if interested email me and ask for the Larry Nesmith Review Manual's offer. Email: joemedina@...

Guest guest
This is what I left at 9pm on March 3rd to the family. I have no way of knowing if it will get posted. but I will share it with you all. To the Nesmith family, One of the strongest impacts on both my professional and personal life was the blessing of knowing Larry Nesmith. He was and always will be revered by me personally as a mentor, a teacher, a professional associate and a friend. We worked on several projects together. We discussed the roads to be taken to achieve standardization in the field of pharmacy education for technicians. While he asked for my opinions and listened intently, I contacted him more often for his opinions and guidance. However I would not have done so had he not been so open to sharing knowledge and generous with his time. Nothing has given me more honor than being his successor, following in his footsteps in receiving (the same) NPTA Educator of the year award the year following his. What a historical event in my life. He was/is who I wanted to be like; he groomed me well. Larry coached me, groomed me and taught me much. His encouragement also left a lasting impression and taught me the value of encouraging others. In addition to all that he taught me about the pharmacy industry and technician education, he taught me ethics. Larry lived by great ethics. He was one of the most ethical men that I have ever met, constantly setting one example after another to emulate. In addition to pharmacy, Larry knew the how and why of having great social interaction and networking at the conventions and seminars. He passed this along to many others and me. My hope is to carry on what this icon stood for and will always stand for: honesty; of the highest integrity. He shared his great love for his family with me and for this too I am honored in knowing him. He set a wonderful example of passion and love for pharmacy, education, his associates and family. Knowing him was actually more than a blessing, but I have no other word to describe it. Larry supported me during a critical time in my life during the loss of my father. Once again his impact was tremendous. My last words with Larry were during a brief telephone conversation in January of this year, he let me know " in his own way " that there would be a " change " . I didn't understand his `message' exactly until now. May the Lord bless you all during this great time of sorrow and loss, and may HE allow you to know that you will find a day when you can reflect upon this wonderful being without sadness, but with happiness for having had him in your lives. Respectfully, Jeanetta Mastron CPhT BS Pharmacy Technician Program Director

Dear All, I regret to inform you that a man who is responsible for so much that technicians enjoy and have attained today; as well as what we are working on for tomorrow has passed away. Larry Nesmith died February 28, 2008. Larry Nesmith was a mentor, teacher, coach and dear friend to me. He was a 'GREAT' in a small sea of pioneering educators. Larry made things happen. He was not just talk! In fact he didn't engage in idle small talk at all. But rather Larry was a mover and a shaker who got things done! With a long list of many honors and awards there is no other that I can compare to him. He was there when you had questions about accreditation, questions about pharmacy, wanted to discuss a fresh pharmacy idea or an old pharmacy tech dilema. He advocated pharm tech education like no other. A first in many areas of pharmacy technician history; he sat on the PTCB item writing and early development comittees, a past PTEC president, active AAPT member and officer, and active TSP member. I won't presume to know all about Larry, but I will say that he was my personal friend, in addition to a pharmacy associate or colleague. Mainly a friend who helped me through a personal crisis during the loss of my father several years ago. It is my the highest honor to share the same award as his successor as the National Educator of the Year. I feel that he groomed me well. Thank You Larry. Larry owns the " HOOT " in any CE he gave! Larry I know you are up above having a real good time so here is a real loud " Hoot " for you! I encourage any and all who wish to write here on this site any testimony of thier love or appreciation and/or encounters with Larry here on this thread. In addition, here is a link to his obituary and also a guest book that you can sign for the family www.missionparks.com . Guest guest
When I heard that Larry had passed on, my heart grew very heavy. Even now, it is very difficult for me to type these words. Larry Nesmith had always been a man I so admired and looked up to. He had such great passion for pharmacy technicians and their education, he always had such a positive outlook!
