Guest guest
Dear An, I think it is a good starting salary in Southern California. If this were northern CA I would say about 14 is min start pay. Go to www.salary.com place the area or closest city to the Walgreens and also use Pharmacy Technician I not II for beginning or retail tech. II is for experienced or hospital tech. Hope this helps. I got an offer from Walgreens at $12/hr. Do you think it is reasonable? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Guest guest
An, Just to compare, Walgreens in Las Vegas is starting at $10.25 with PTCB certification. It's $9.75 otherwise. Hope that helps! It's almost as expensive to live here now as in CA. ~Lori in Las Vegas ___________________________ My Medifast Progress Blog http://squeezle68.blogspot.com Certified Health Advisor # 16541001 http://lorilinek.tsfl.com/ On 4/27/07, An Nguyen <nxkan@...> wrote: > > Hi, I'm just wondering what is starting salary for pharmacy technician > in California. Guest guest
I just interviewed a technician and she did a salary search here in northern california and spoke to Walgreens and they said that it was 15.00 an hour. I don't know if you are certified or if you have been a technician for some time now, but that might be the starting (12.00) if you didn't have the experience... Guest guest
Dear Tan, When you signed up (recently) you were automatically sent many emails from me. As attachments you can opent them. They can alos be found on this ite in the files section. In those you will find some VERY basic tech math tutorals, as well as advanced math tutorials. Use a study guide book that your lead teck ordred fot you. If you get obgged down with the book's math, then try ot find that exact type of math in Files, Folder S-5 Tutorials- 1 . If you still have questions then post your specific question here. do your homework or preparation first. Hope this helps, I will address your other question in the next post. Guest guest
The PTCB exam can be considered difficult by those who 1. Do not spend sufficient time to study. I recommend 3 - 4 times a week at 2-4 hours per study time for about 4 - 9 months, as a minimum. For any student that also falls into any of the following categories, then he/she may need more preparation time. Recall this is self-study only. 2. The student does not have adequate math skills to begin with, although much can be learned from scratch, if the person is good at self learning. Or a book with poor examples, or does not use the tutorials on this site. 3. The student does not have good communication skills to interpret text and if directions well enough to master the topic and answer the questions. 4. The student fails to focus, takes the study lightly. 5. The student has test anxiety, poor study habits, fear of success or fear of failure. 6. The student has poor memorization techniques. 7. The student is truly not interested in this type of work and is doing this for someone else, one's work or rehabilitation decision requires it or for monetary gain. In addition to thise two people given the same exam will view it differently given different back grounds, interests and capabilities. Therefore what is easy to one person may be difficult to others. Wishing good luck, looking forward to your posted study questions. Guest guest
Hello! I took the exam Dec. 28, 2007 with absolutely no pharmacy experience, but a strong math background. I passed with an 808, so I did not think it was all that hard. I did study a fair amount though. You, with your experience at CVS are likely at an advantage over some others taking the exam with no experience. Don't be scared about the generic/trade, just focus on the top 200 drugs and some of the hospital drugs commonly mentioned in pharm tech study books and you'll be fine for all of those related questions. For the math, just be strong in the conversions and know ratios! Best of luck to you, Brittany > > Hello, to all i would like to no is this test hard .I am so scared to > take this test but i want to take this test , I work at a local cvs > here in my home town and our lead tech have encourage me to take the > pharmacy tech test and she orded me some books to study but i have got > caught up on the math stuff and another thing do we really have to no > all these meds and their generic name .Any information you have for > this test please help me i want to pass this test . > > > > Thank you > Tan from BGA > HELP PLEASE!!!!!! >
