Guest guest
Hi, All! My name is Jo Harvey. I am currently studying to take the certification test is April(along with a co-worker). I work at large retail pharmacy doing a little of this and a little of that - running register, stocking shelves, filling Rxs, dealing with customers. My co-worker is the OTC manager and she also does a little of everything. Our pharmacy has only one certified tech. I work in a small rural, college town in Western PA. I would like to know, for those in retail, is there a division amongst those who are titled techs and those that are pharmacy clerks? Since I do a little of everything - I don't mind working OTC 'cuz it keeps me up-to-date with products and the customer. I find that if you know your customer it sure helps when any problems arise. Your input on this would be helpful. Thanks! Guest guest
I started as a fencing coach and sold fencing designs before I went to school to be a tech. I started doing pharm designs at that point and made a new site spliting my sca/fencing designs from my pharm. I do all the designs myself and make new ones when I get ideas from life or other people that give me ideas for things they would like to see. I can honestly say that I have not done a tech do it in the hood design. I always rejected the common tech;s/pharmacists do it over the counter etc designs because I would like that all of my designs can be worn at work (well most of them) and most of my designs are new and not old pharm jokes. But I do like do it in the hood. Right now " Pharm Girl " is my biggest seller. I offered to make a design for tech lectures a while back for Joe but I would be happy to come up with a " Everything I know Jeanetta taught me " design. ;o) Wohlers CPhT Texas For all your pharmacy gift giving needs check out _www.thepharmacygiftshop.com_ (http://www.thepharmacygiftshop.com) In a message dated 1/9/2008 11:50:06 P.M. Guest guest
On of the oldest steadfast supporters and members of this site is Ms Karin! This site could not survive without the word of mouth and tips of her fingertips as she is a walking advertisement for this site. If you have not signed up for HER group you are missing out on pharmacy news updates and a place for techs. You can find HER site address in my sites file section, inside the file named Networking (...er I think that is where I put it!). Thank you Karin for all you do for pharmacy techs across the nation! I invite you to put your site address here again. I think it is Pharmacy Technicians Unite but I am having a brain freeze. I have a question: I did a lot of pediatric oral meds compounding when I was working in hospital. In addition to this what other type of compounding do you do? Also I am curious, we had an out pt window for our hospital too, but usually the pts were pts being discharged home or recently dc'd; we did not get insurance adjudication scripts. So tell me do you do much Med Part D or insurance at the hospital out pt? Thanks for all your help throughout the years! Guest guest
Dear , I made another trip to your site and I found that I am the one adlibbing!!!! Yep! You have one that says " Techs in da hood " and I read it as " Techs do it in da hood! " I think my mind is twisted, but I love it! I love the idea of a design for the site, but I could not take credit for ALL that one knows theylearnd from me since Ihave somuch input from TEXPERTS and other techs and CPhT's my moderator/Dora and all. But how about " Everyting I know I learned on Jeanetta's PTCB Study Group " Hee! I am not sure how many would buy that and you may be wasting your time. However if you would like me to put up a survey that may help you. I do not want a dime, and would not take it because it just would not be fair. But someone may want something like that. Does it cut into cost to do custom work like that if there are not many buyers? OR do you make as the order comes in? Any way if anyone has a design that they think is better than the one above for this site please let us know! Post it and if we get some input we can put a survey on the site for you , to see if it will be worth your while to make a specific one for the site buyers. When I asked about I meant for the site photo. I have LOVED the photo that I usually use with the cat and study. But I found it on the net and I really can't say it is mine. Any ideas? Thanks Jeanetta > > > I started as a fencing coach and sold fencing designs before I went to > school to be a tech. Guest guest
WOW!!! Tim you have your hands full (literally!) ! I am interested in your duties or tasks with the C2 safe (pulling narcs)! Please elaborate for those studying who have never set foot in a pharmacy and also to update some of us. In my day we did not touch C2 safes but we could count them out. This being in hospital only. RPh in retail usually does this. And of course I am speaking of California. Many states practice in the same way, but I will not speak for any as the laws change so rapidly these days! Did you go to a pharm tech school? Prep course? Guest guest
ok, the address of my site is: pharmacytechsunite/ yes, it is called pharmacy techs unite. we also compound meds to go down feeding tubes in patients of all ages. our most common compound is metoprolol oral suspension. our computer system " talks " to medimpact and puts it through. if it doesn't go trough most cases we have to have business office set up an insurance pending account as when our window is open there is no one to call to get the codes/auth/whatever to get it to go through. we only deal with DSHS, L & I, medicare D (if they have group health as pharmacy provider), group health of course (easiest of course!) and visitors from kaiser. if they don't have that and was seen in our ER, they can either pay for it (and hope to be re-imbursed) or take it somewhere else that their insurance will cover. --- Jeanetta Mastron CPhT BS Chemistry <rxjm2002@...> wrote: On of the oldest steadfast supporters and members of this site is Ms Karin! Guest guest
Dear Karin, How would you like to do a tutorial on this oral med compound for peds for this site?? You could place it on as a post and then I will add it or send it to me to edit in the same format. YOUR NAME goes on it.
