Guest guest
, I am so glad you liked Dr. . He did my husband's Heller-Dor back in June, and I thought he was great. He failed to warn us about the dumping syndrome, which Jack thought he should have done, but then not everyone gets it. Jack also had to go back for a dilitation last week--we arrived at same-day surgery at 8:30 AM and didn't leave until after 5 PM! That was because Dr. had a cardiac emergency to deal with that day. But, things are slowly getting better, like-two steps forward, one step back. But that's better than the reverse. Now we have to figure out how he can gain weight without eating a lot of sugar. Guest guest
Hi Dawn, I just recently had my esophagectomy, and I am really struggling with the dumping syndrome problems. I seem to do very well with eggs and mashed potatoes and cheese & crackers, but I'm finding vegetables, salad and fruit aren't working at all. Within 5 minutes I'm cramping and heading for the nearest washroom. Could you please give me an idea of what your husband can eat without the side effects. I'm trying to gain weight, and I'm getting frustrated. I already know to stay away from carbonated drinks and sugar. Other than the dumping, I'm eating great though. Guest guest
Hi , I have had trouble with the dumping syndrom since surgery. To this day I still can't eat raw veggies and salad. it's just too hard on the digestive system. I'm ok with fruit, sometimes, but not always. Thanks, a in St. Louis > > Hi Dawn, > > I just recently had my esophagectomy, and I am really struggling with the dumping syndrome problems. Guest guest
Welcome , I'm new to this group too. I know what you mean about having a different body image that what you think you have. I was always the tiny one all the way through college. I only weighed 2lb 2oz when I was born. So I have always been the little girl, the tiny petite baby. Always weighed under 120, and wore a size 6 dress. Well the baby got fat real fast after the age of 40, and hasn't stopped growing since. Now at 222 and very over weight I feel sick all the time. I tell my self that I can't possibility weight as much as I do. How did this happen? Low self esteem and becoming lazy, eating more and sitting More, that's what happened. Not taking care of myself. So now here I am, new to this group wanting support and help. I know what to do, I'm just not doing it. I'll help you if you help me, together we can lose this ungodly weight and be the kind of women we where meant to be. -- Home Well, I'm new to and am excited to find this group in particular. I weigh 248 right now, having lost 12 pounds on Lindora. I want to get back down to at least 150. I am 51 years old, married and have two children, 16 and 20. My weight was never an issue growing up--in fact, I was kind of scrawny, but started putting on weight at around 25 to 30 years old when I got married, moved to upstate NY from Georgia and felt pretty miserable. One of my main problems is that I still see myself as an 130 pound person, and am completely startled when I catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror or a picture. Is anyone here in the same situation? I have put my body through too much by having to carry around all this extra weight and want to get out of the plus size clothing, feel more energized and live longer. In other words, I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired! I feel pretty good about the Lindora program although it is very strict. I'm in this for the long haul so would appreciate any advice or support ya'll can give me. I look forward to reading the posts and getting to know all of you. Is anyone here in the same situation? Hi - I don't see myself in this way that you describe. I am the opposite: I still see a super-heavy gal, even after losing almost 60 lbs. Subject: home Hello all, This afternoon I arrived home after 3 weeks and 5 days in the hospital. I was in ICU for 6 days and then moved to the Re-hab floor. Another weekend in the boring hospital would have driven me over the edge...no cable TV movies.. I have two fractures in the pelvis, three cracked ribs and two slightly cracked lumbar vertabrae. I home with a wealth of " home aides/equipment " , good drugs.... and for the time being 12 hour a day " attendant " care. I'm sure I'll be cutting down on the attendant care in a week or so. While in the hospital I was " out of it " for about 5 days... then bitchy to the world for 4 days... and then I begame somewhat " normal " for the rest of the time. I had OT and PT therapy for a combined 3 hours a day. I had great care and once I got past the bitchy stage I was appreciative to everyone care and attention. For those of you that missed the beginning of this misfortune.... AS I was reporting to work on Monday , March 24th , I got my things out of my car and started walking across the drive when I was struck by a Chevy S-10 pick up truck...I understand I was airborne and rolled for a total of 50 feet. I am thankful that the Lord God caught me in the palm of his hand when I landed, otherwise my injuries could have certainly been worse. Needless to say....I have ended my school year early and we'll see how I feel at a later date to determine if this opens the door to retirement. thanks for all your love and prayers marge
