Guest guest
Thank you, Dr. Marasco. A doctor of mine, Trent Nichols, recommended Standard Process C to me as well, but I never got around to ordering it. Partly because of past experiences with C and partly because I just plum forgot. The main factors in leaky gut seem to be diet and candida. The l-glutamine is one of the most important supplements for leaky gut. I get it in the pure powdered form (no additives), and the taste is really quite pleasant. -------->Thanks, Kat! Actually, I know for a fact I have leaky gut as well as Candida. It's something I've studied for years and was finally diagnosed with it last spring, even though I *knew* I had both even before the diagnosis. My diet has been simple, for the most part, for the past 6 months, but whenever I get lax - watch out. And, it's not as though I run to Mcs...when I say lax I mean fruit two days in a row or a second helping of brown rice. Right now the only thing I take for the leaky gut is Primal Defense. I don't feel as though it has helped heal the gut (I got the bad bugs out so now it should be healing time) but it certainly helps me stay regular. I am interested to hear more about the l-glutamine you take as I'm suspicious of mine. It's a good quality l-glutamine from Pure Encapsulations, but as I mentioned before the fact that it contains Vit. C worries me. a __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Had not heard that... I know the vit E more or less balances out so that you don't get too much iron. Good! I'm tired of taking one thing now and another thing later. Now I'll do it all at the same time and not worry about it. Gloria
Guest guest
I just cant hack drinking the super green blends. I couldn't stand that stuff either. Now I cheat a little..I mix it in Silk Very Very Vanilla soymilk, toss in a half bag of frozen fruit, 1/2 of a banana, add a little cinnamon and whip it up in the blender. It actually tastes good. I used to take it in apple juice and it made me nauseous everytime. Gloria
Guest guest
Vitamin C increases the absorption of iron and so am inclined to combine iron-rich veggies with the vitamin C-rich veggies It sure does and it also increases absorption of calcium. Guest guest
From: MorningGlory113@... > However, we take our vitamins in powder form mixed in our smoothies > in the morning. Somewhere along the line I was told that iron and Vit. E shouldn't be taken together, as the iron will wipe out the E. So I take them different times on the day. Just a habit I've gotten into. Gloria .................................... Thank you Gloria, I have been meaning to ask about this since hubby and I have been taking the " PP " about every other day now for some weeks. We have been taking a tablespoon of the ACV/blackstrap molasses in the morning and the vitamin E many hours later... On a different subject here...but I have read that Vitamin C increases the absorption of iron and so am inclined to combine iron-rich veggies with the vitamin C-rich veggies, though such things as watermelon (and probably cantaloupe, too), contain both iron and Vitamin C at the same time. Regards, Holly PS: This is such a wonderful list. Thank you all. I wish I could post more often...
Guest guest
I have Superfood..... is that all the vitamins I'd need? ----- Original Message ----- From: Suzanne health Sent: Tuesday, August 03, 2004 5:53 PM Subject: Re: Vitamin C Anyone I know takes some vitamins... whether it is Vit E (gel cap), CO-Q, niacin, ... even some of those "herbal gurus". As for a total vitamin, no, Super or Total Nutrition is best. Organic Iron and Calcium is far better than any pill. As is Rose hips and lemon peel better than a vit C pill... Does this help? So what does everyone on here use for vitamins? Only powdered or from fruits/veggies? Guest guest
I use powdered whole food supplements in veggie caps, or liquid. I think most of those rock hard vitamins just come out the same way they go in J I read somewhere – don’t know if it’s true – that the people who clean porta-potties report that they see a lot of whole vitamin pills in the gloop. Sounds like a fascinating job!! Guest guest
Pretty much all vitamin c on the market is just ascorbic acid, which can be made very cheaply in a lab by combining corn syrup and sulfuric acid, and you come up with ascorbic acid. That has nothing to do with the real Vitamin C, because the real Vitamin C is a complex nutrient that is made from nine parts. Ascorbic acid is only the outer shell of Vitamin C. So when you take a Vitamin C pill, you are actually taking only one part of the nine parts of the complex Vitamin C, and you will create a chemical imbalance in your body, because the body doesn't know how to use it and process it, unless it has minerals, enzymes, and protein, etc. along with it. Your body will then take minerals, enzymes and protein from inside your bones, your tissues and your organs, to process this " isolated " supplement. It puts a lot of stress on your whole body. Instead, eat a bell pepper. A bell pepper has 50 mg. of Vitamin C, and it also has the macro-nutrients - the carbohydrates, protein, and fatty acids. The body can use the 50 mg. of Vitamin C because it has everything combined and attached to it. Carol -----Original Message----- From: Skip [mailto:res08wix@...] You REALLY need to go read some of this stuff. You are just like the rest of us - we all need more C than we are generally told about. By The Way, I hear that ester-c is less desirable than ascorbic acid or sodium ascorbate. Don't remember the specifics.. seems it wasn't absorbed as well or similar. Vitamin C has a half life of something like 2 1/2 hrs. What you take is used up and gone at 3 hours. I use a combo of powdered and chewable C's. I'm picky about what I take and prefer pure. Reason for powdered or chewables is that I don't have to worry about a fake pill coated in concrete that my body can't digest. Works for me!
