Guest guest
>Hi hardulakl, You're welcome. The process isn't as bad as it may seem. You are allowed to work as a tech as long as the BOP has your application. It can take up to 60 days to receive your license, provided you don't have felony convictions for drugs or whatever. If that were the case, a license would be denied and you (or anyone else) would not be allowed to continue working as a tech. If you were to be hired by any company (retail, hospital, nuclear, etc.), they are required to train you in their particular field. This is formal, on the job training. All this is documented and retained in your file. So, actually, it's quite painless. The next step is to get certified, which is now required in Illinois. The BOP mentions specifically the PTCB exam or another exam approved by them. So, before taking an exam other than the PTCB, you must contact them for approval. I hope this helps and maybe takes the mystery out of everything. Nukes, CPhT > Thank you, nukes.
