You're welcome. The process isn't as bad as it may seem. You are

allowed to work as a tech as long as the BOP has your application.

It

can take up to 60 days to receive your license, provided you don't

have

felony convictions for drugs or whatever. If that were the case, a

license would be denied and you (or anyone else) would not be allowed

to continue working as a tech.

If you were to be hired by any company (retail, hospital, nuclear,

etc.), they are required to train you in their particular field.

This

is formal, on the job training. All this is documented and retained

in

your file.

So, actually, it's quite painless. The next step is to get

certified,

which is now required in Illinois. The BOP mentions specifically the

PTCB exam or another exam approved by them. So, before taking an

exam

other than the PTCB, you must contact them for approval.

I hope this helps and maybe takes the mystery out of everything.
