Guest guest
Black Walnut aids in expelling tapeworms and roundworms and has been shown to be very effective in treating Candida Albicans. Black Walnut is excellent for candida. I have some on hand, but traditionalist that I am, I an waiting for the New Moon to make it. That's when I make all of my tinctures unless it's an emergency. Make on the New Moon, strain on the Full Moon. The next New Moon is going to be a busy one for me. I have about 6 herbs I want to make into tinctures. Going to need lotsa vodka and jars!!! I met a guy on the internet who, in his enthusiasm, bought 100 lbs of herbs! He told me he goes crazy having to shake up about 200 bottles every day! Guest guest
I can only get my hands on black walnut hull powder here...if I tincture this will it do the same? If so, how much do I use in relation to the vodka? I am using the powder too, as this is all I could get. I was told that I could just put it in a jar and make it the same way I make the other tinctures, just without using the blender. Put the powder in a jar, pour in the vodka to cover it, shake it up, let it settle and later check to make sure the jar is 3/4 herb and 1/4 vodka. Then shake it up everyday and let it settle and make sure the proportions remain the same everyday until you strain it. May not even have to strain it. Maybe the powder will dissolve?? I haven't tried it yet. Gloria
Guest guest
Powder is alot different than cut/dried... You will find you will want to add some liquid and strain thru alot of cheesecloth. Some of the powder will filter into your tincture.. that is ok... just make sure you shake it before using. SuziMorningGlory113@... wrote: and how much liquid do you end up with?Depends on the herb. When I made my last echinacea tincture I used dried herb and let it settle until the contents were 75% herb, 25% vodka. The Ball jar was filled to the top. When I strained it I got a little less than 1/2 Ball jar of tincture. When I made my last batch of cayenne, I used fresh habaneros. The mixture was much more slushy and I got more tincture (than with the dried echinacea) after it was strained. The Ball jar was filled to the top 75% of it habanero pepper slush and 25% vodka. Strained I got almost 3/4 Ball jar of straight tincture. I have never used powdered herb. This will be my first time.
Guest guest
Ooooh, I have echinacea in the garden right now The plants should really be at least 3 years old and the part you will be using is the root. Are you willing to dig them up? Gloria
Guest guest
My own home grown echinacea has got to be better than anything store-bought, right?<G> You'd better beleve it is. Just make the tincture on the New Moon (Aug. 16), shake it everyday and strain it on the Full Moon (Aug. 30). After you add some hot hot cayenne tincture to it, you'll have some mighty powerful stuff. In fact, if I were you, I'd get some fresh habaneros right before the New Moon, and make up a cayenne tincture at the same time. After you dig up the roots try to cut them up as much as you can. I have used fresh echinacea root and it is very hard and could break a blender or at least jam up in the blades. Cut it up as best you can and soak it in a bowl filled with cheap 80-90 proof vodka for about 3-4 days prior to making the tincture. It will help to soften those roots up. If you can't cut the root up, soak the whole root in the vodka then chop it up when you go to make the tincture. I wash the roots really well first and use the soaking vodka in the tincture.
