Guest guest
Welcome, emperialm, At this time you CAN become CA registered by either going to a pharm tech program OR by passing the PTCB exam. Having a BA does not get you a registraion. It may get your foot in the door for a job because it shows the employer that you may be a more committed candidate than others, but then again much depends upon your interview skills and resume. surf net for " California state board of pharmacy " and browse the site for technician application. YOU must complete one of the above, then get LiVE SCAN fingerprinted, apply and send your money! Will cost you about $200 to 300 in total with testing, fingerprinting and registration fees if you chose not to go to school. There lies the problem! In CA if you did not attend a pharm tech program you have less of a chance of getting hired, especially in hospital. Why? because the law changed in 2004 to test or education, when before it was training or education. RPh's do not liek to hire those who have only studied a book (passed a test), but who have no experience at all, not even in mock labs. So you WILL find it difficult to get work in CA with a CPhT only! You may find a chain store that takes a chance on you. Much depends upon your area in CA, the more schools around the less chance you will get hired without school. Good luck and keep us posted.
