Guest guest
I think tincturing and then adding water to make it a spray. the oil seems to work but has a bit of an odor to it that may be offensive to others. As soon as I have enough again, I am going to try tincturing it. Suzinkbaker2001 <nkbaker2001@...> wrote: I am very much convinced that the catnip does work against mosquitoes. We had an outbreak and wearing the catnip work so very well. Now, being that I was making a tea to use as a spray, I've had to keep it in the frig so it doesn't mold. What could we do keep it from molding, Or do we need to just make small fresh patches?Kathe
Guest guest
Yep!!!!! only way to learn is experiment... lolnkbaker2001 <nkbaker2001@...> wrote: Hi Ya I'm thinking of maybe putting the catnip in oil. The thing is, if you tincture it with ACV or vodka would that affect it's mosquito repelling qualities? I quess it's all a big experiment we can all conduct.Kathe

Using alcohol will probably be much better than using ACV though. Basically just place your plant material in the jar and add the alcohol to cover plus a little extra. If you are going to tincture quite bit you can place it into the blender with the alcohol and give it a good whirl to break up the pieces. Then just let it sit for a couple of weeks and press on the full moon. After pressing you can add distilled water to make your alcohol about 50% so it won't be as potent alcohol wise. -- Peace, love and light, Don Quai " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man. Guest guest
We have a lot of abandoned or wild stray cats around here. We knew catnip would be a problem. We only have a couple plants but we're growing in hanging baskets in the tree out front. This is working pretty well so far. Only caught one cat looking up at the basket about to jump into the tree. Of course to grow a good ammount of catnip this way, you'd need a lot of trees. We've taken in a couple cats, ended up with a suprise, KITTENS, now we have 5, had 9, found good homes for 4. Oh and one more cat who won't come in but has adopted us. He's a cool cat, charcoal gray, declawed, nuetered, he doesn't like being around other cats, so he won't come in. He lives under the shed and comes running every time we come outside, he's very loving. I wish he'd come inside. I'll have to get photos set up. They are all adorable. Next year we are going to try chickenwire cages around several plants. We're working on a deal with a neighboring landowner to have a larger garden next year, then maybe we'll plant enough for us and the cats. - Bulk herbs, oils & more: http://www.greenladysgarden.com Wholesale Webhosting: http://www.accessiblehosting.com
