Dear All,

What some snooping uncovered and I pieced this from many of the sites

various pages for technician certification. This test does require

certification and you MUST use their CE's!

MMCI or NCCT.

There is a Practice Test available - Pharmacy Technician Online $15.00

And I know of one more that has been around for a number of years. I

forgot the name. I think it is Allied Health something or other.

Hi J,

I'm getting into this topic a bit late. What do you mean in that last

paragraph? Was there a law proposed in Ohio that they would only accept the

NCCT certification and not PTCB? What would happen to all the PTCB certified

techs in OH? Am I reading it correctly?

Dear all,

I got this on my educator's site a couple of days ago. I wanted to

place the author's name here, but have been waiting for permission and

I feel it can no longer wait. So I place it here with out giving

credit or revealing the author. I have removed anything that links the

contents to the author:

" " Jeanetta, I am going to complicate things even further. There is an

organization called the National Center for Competency Training. The

Dayton, OH Campus of National College just got approved to be a

proctor site for this company. The NCCT's certification would

designate someone as an NCPhT, which I'm not sure if it is the same as

CPhT status or not. At any rate, I did check out their website and

this is what they require before a person sits to take this exam:

1) High School Graduation or GED

2) No record of a conviction or felony

3) MUST be a graduate of an approved program of study of Pharmacy

Technician curriculum or have at least 1 year of documented pharmacy

experience.

The one thing I do like about their program is that their test is

cheaper at $90 for a student. Also, their recertification process is

much more stringent. You have to complete 14 hours of NCCT CE credits

per year versus the 20 every 2 years with PTCB. I have not seen their

exam nor seen a practice exam. "

Okay folks! What do we do with this exam? According to the courts they

can be called CPhT! and do not even need to specify NCPhT! But guess

what? If the Ohio senator's law gets passed, it was proposed in

July 2007, there may be no allowing for PTCB =CPhT! ONLY NCPhT!

It gets better than this doesn't it? :) Are we having fun yet!

I will forward that question to the educator who posted this. I have not heard

from him since the original post.

The educator is PTCB certified. But there is no law in Ohio at this time.

Senator bill proposed in July but I found no update on it on the senators site.

this company has been out for at least a year probably

more. this company does other health care

certifications if i remember right. my question is

what is the difference between a " normal " : ce and a

ncct ce? the ce qualifications more closely resemble

the pharmacists license as their ces are usually

required annually.

Funny, I looked at the actual CE's and I thought they were rather dull. Did you

actually open them up and read a few? They are not pharmacy specific. If you

are a nurse or phlebotomist you can that the same CE that the tech can take.

Perhaps you looked at one that is geared more for administration of drugs I

looked at the Pt Safety and drug medication errors and Hand washing.

The normal versus student is the cost of the exam. If you are currently a

student of a program or have graduated with in the last 6 months you can take it

for $ 90 otherwise you are 'normal' price at $135. Go figure!
