Well I would say congratulations are in order, BUT I fail to

understand the relevance of bottom last requirement. Here is a quote:

-certification by a program accredited by the National Commission for

Certifying Agencies (NCCA).

I looked up this commission and all I found was that it has a test for

Athletic Trainers.

Trying to keep an open mind I thought well maybe it is for CPR but I

could not find that either.

So can anyone TELL ME why this is required?

Thanks so much,

Here is what I found by a surf:

National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA)

http://www.bocatc.org/index.php?Itemid=95 & id=89 & option=com_content & task=view

For Athletic Trainers BOC

National Organization for Competency Assurance

http://www.noca.org/NCCAAccreditation/AccreditedCertificationPrograms/tabid/120/\

Default.aspx

Established in 1977, the National Organization for Competency

Assurance (NOCA) is the leader in setting quality standards for

credentialing organizations. Through its annual conference, regional

seminars, and publications, NOCA serves its membership as a

clearinghouse for information on the latest trends and issues of

concern to practitioners and organizations focused on certification,

licensure, and human resource development.

National Commission For Certifying Agencies

Accredited Certification Organizations/Programs as of March 2008

· Pharmacy Technician Certificaton Board

· Certified Pharmacy Technician 11/30/11

An alphabetical listing of NOCA members. by profession/pharmacy are:

Pharmacy

Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties

College of Pharmacists of British Columbia

Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy

National Association of Boards of Pharmacy

Ontario College of Pharmacists

The Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada

Pharmacy Technician Certification Board

My question is if the NOCA is going to use PTCB any way then why would

Florida NOT just use PTCB instead of having the would be tech

applicant have to go all the way around the barn to get into the barn?

Just simply go to PTCB site instead of having to go through NCCA to go

to NOCA to get to PTCB! Makes NO sense to me.

Apparently they do not want to limit themselves to the PTCB or ExcPT.

This will give them more flexibility later without rewriting the law.

I am sure they refer to pharmacy technician certification that is

granted by an organization approved by the NCCA. Air conditioning

techs need not apply ;->

Thank you! (good to hear from you!)

So if NCCA accepts pharm tech certification exams other than PTCB

which is the only one that it lists currently then Florida would also

accept them?

Interesting!

my guess it opens it up for in the future if another

rganization wants to become certified by the NCCA/NOCA

plus I think that canadian site does techs in canada,

so maybe there are a fair number of transplants there?

(just a guess off the top of my head with no data on

that one)

Agree with you and Mark on that point of allowing for other exams in

the future. I also noticed that a Canada test was on that list..

But I am not faliliar with Canadian laws, other than they have used

PTCB, but at one timeit was not honored there. Perhaps a Canadian

member may want to pot and educate us 'again' on the exams or laws to

qualify a tech in Canada. I understand they MUST go to school Bravo!
