Guest guest
Penn now says " We do not have them in print anymore. They are available to you online " . Why promise something that they cannot keep? Flash cards and audio online....anyone heard of such a concept?! Frustrated. > > Hello, > > I took up online Pharmacy Technician course with Penn . Guest guest
Dear hj and jc, er... Frustrated with PF, Sorry to hear you are having problems with Penn . I personally have had no contact with them. From time to time I hear of a member who has used them and they seemed to have liked them. I always wondered how they teach hands on IV's? I know they send a counting tray etc, but how do they teach IV's? Any way to answer this question: YES electronic flash cards are not new. You can make them on line at www.studystack.com or quizlet.com Audio? yes there are audio drug pronounciation sites (see my links section) that use podcasting. I think drugs.com has this if I am not mistaken. But not as flash cards. But I suppose they gave you a private paid for link which is only good with a pin code. USE it to your study advantage and then report to us how you liked it. Give it a try. I think the home study stuff is going more and more electronic.... less and less paper or hands on. Hope to hear from you once you give it a 'go'. Respectfully, Jeanetta Mastron CPhT BS Founder/Owner > > > > Hello, > > > > I took up online Pharmacy Technician course with Penn . Guest guest
Thank you for taking time to reply. Penn has not sent me any paid link. They did send me a counting tray.I got a message from another Penn student that he got the flash cards and a CD from Penn when he did the course but he also mentions it was only slightly useful. I guess I have to be satisfied with that. Now I need to move on and see how I can improve and build on what is available to me. Thanks for the links on the flash cards. I am a new immigrant and reside in the US Virgin Islands.I am trying to get used to so many things. To be honest, I had no idea that there is so much to being a Pharmacy Technician when I took up the course - especially the IVs. Penn has sent me study materials on IVs but cannot be compared to hands on experience. Jaycee > > > > > > Hello, > > > > > > I took up online Pharmacy Technician course with Penn . Guest guest
I have the 2007 top 200 drug cards if you are interested for 25.00. If you buy my Review Manual I will sell it with the Drug Cards for 50.00. Not a bad price when compared to other offerings. Guest guest
Dear hjand jc, You ARE most welcome for the quick reply and links to www.studystack.com electronic flash cards and games! Glad to see this site reaching across the miles! Go to the TOP 200 or TOP 300 Drugs list and make your own cards for freee. Theexperince of making them in itself is a great teacher and then using them with your own handwriting helps to ingrain in your brain/head! The TOP 200 site link is also in my link section and in the pharmacology of the files section. You can also google it for the newest updated list or link. I believe Drug Topics has one such list. Hope this helps, my students make their own drug list cards this way as an assignment. Guest guest
Dear Joe, I think this IS a fair price, I have no problem with it. To any one looking for such an item already made: I would recommend that they snatch this up. But unfortunately this person: " hjandjc " is upset be cause he or she has already paid a great amount of money(?$$$?) to Penn with out any or too little or late help. I hate to see him or her pay out more money, on top of the previously spent money. Thank you for letting the mmebers know of this product that you have for sale. Guest guest
Dear Ms.Jeanetta, Penn got back to me that although flash cards and audio tape are mentioned in my study material, it is not mentioned in my online program outline. As the study materials sent to me are older than the online program outline, Penn cannot send me the flash cards and audio tape. As I go through my study materials, I begin to realize what it takes to be a Pharmacy Technician.I cannot agree with you more that lab experience should be made mandatory. However, I am determined to finish the course I have enrolled into and then explore externship options available on this island. I would also like to congratulate Sandygood40 on passing the PTCB exam and securing an externship, doing it all studying online.Good luck. Thank you once again for all the links. Guest guest
Dear Jaycee, Thank you for letting us know what was/is going on at Penn . I think if they knew that this was all over my site they would send you the NEWER products. I am wondering if you are paying for the new materials and they will refund you since you did not get them or if in fact you are paying for the older version which does not include them (?) Either way they should offer to charge you for something you may want that you have not been charged for, or send it to you as complimentary, or deduct from your bill something that they did charge you for that you did not get. Either way this is not what you thought you were paying for and therefore you may have made a misinformed decision. Had you known that the online newer program with flash cards and audio would not be provided you may have thought twice about signing up. I think you should definitely pursue either a refund or the product. At minimum an apology is in order. Guest guest
Dear rxfiller57, That is a good price since the ASHP member's price is also $19.00 !! Thanks for letting the membership know about your bookstore/product store. I placed a doc in the studyguide file section. Guest guest
Dear Ms.Jeanetta, I am so happy to have met people like you and Mr.Joe Medina through this forum. Mr.Medina has sent me his review manual free of charge by priority mail. I am speechless. I don't think I can ever thank you and Mr.Medina enough for all the kindness you have extended to me.
