Suggest you do a Las Vegas job search at Indeed.com

<http://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=Pharmacy+Technician & l=las+vegas+nv> *

In the meantime, some questions: Did your schooling include

externships? Were these interviews in retail or clinical? Have you

taken the PTCB exam?

best regards,

Hi Krystle,

I live in Las Vegas and work in home infusion. I've been a tech for over a

year now and have done both retail and IVs. At the moment, with Rite Aid

recently shutting down, there is probably a glut of techs on the market all

trying to find new jobs since they didn't get any noticeof the closure. :-(

Still, what school did you attend? They should have some job-search help

available. I encourage you to take the PTCB if you haven't already. Also,

sometimes it's just a matter of banging doors down until you get someone to

listen to you. I know my local pharmacist at 's was complaining he

NEEDS a retail tech - but of course they are starting at like $9/hr. Don't

give up and keep looking!

Good luck,

Lori in LV

Thank you Lori, for your VERY important input and reminder that Rite Aid is

closing in Nevada and that the dynamics of Nevada dn outlook for new tech

immediately is different and changing when compared to other states.

This shows the reason WHY we who have been on thee site for a while ASK you

what sate you are in and further exposes the need to discuss similarites

differences between states laws, situations, requirements etc.

I would like to give 'some' ray of hope to you Krystal, in that since MANY CVS

walgreens may not have been ot school or have worked in a hospital before, you

may have better luck finding work at a hospital. There you would be competing

against other tech who have some hosp exp or none.

Meaning that in retail you would be competing with techs with retail exp " right

now " , so that market is a bit saturated.

If the CVS retail tech has little or no hospital experience then you may sell

your self as in the same playing field needing training and first time hosp

techs. They may sell them selves as having knowledge of drugs. You can sell

yourself has having experience with IV's if in fact you went to a school that

tasught that, and you can sell yourself as having knowledge of drugs if you have

been studying and keeping up with it. You might want to discuss causes of

errors and you are aware to look for some to avoid it in the hospital.

To other Nevada techs: If you did not go to school you may want to volunteer at

a hospital to get experience.

Hope this helps!
