Guest guest
Hi and welcome to the group. You've come to the right site!!! The application deadline for the March 29,2003 test is Jan.31st. First, I suggest you take the practice exam at the PTCB site http://www.ptcb.org/ That will give you a feel for what you can expect from the 'real exam'and help you determine if you're ready or not. Tech Lectures offers an online calculations practice test at http://www.geocities.com/techlectures/ When you joined this site you received a 'welcome' package of several tutorials---those and other tutorials can be found under the 'Files' options--lots of great info! There are a number of study guides out there varying in price and content. To save some $$$ you might check out Adopt a Tech where you can borrow study guides for up to six months. http://www.adoptatech.org/ You can also request your public library to obtain certain titles for you--they borrow from other sites. Tech Lectures sells 2nd hand books as does Amazon, Half price books, and Noble, ebay...you get the idea. Good luck, Dora Group Moderator > hi, i am new to the group. but i have a couple of questions. i attend > college at lamar-orange in texas. my major right now is pharmacy > tech. and i really really enjoy it. but i have a question. we do our > clinics in many different pharmacys. and i have one that has been > telling me to just take the test. but i'm not sure if i'm ready and > i'm not sure where to get a really good study guide. but my bad thing > is i'm having some problems with the math and remember all of the > trade names and their generics. does anyone have any answers that > might help me. > > Thanks, >
Guest guest
Dear ntex, In addition to what Dora wrote, this site has a " basics calculations worksheet " . You can use it as such or you can use it as a 'test'. Sorry I do not have a 'fancy' online exam that gives you answers right away, but I do provide the answers in the " Answers to the Basic Conversion Worksheet/Test " . check this outin the " Files " section. These are 40 conversion math questions. I will be preparing more in the future. I reccommend taht you do not take the exam until you take the PTCB practice test at www.ptcb.org and feel absolutely comfortable with it. Also know the Federal Law.Good luck! Guest guest
Well Rosemary, I always say know your math, law and trade and generics. If it came down to 'hours' I would spend more time on law and math. Since you have been a member for a long time I know you know how to use the tutorials. So go the Ethics, Law and Math tutorials and open each one. If you are 'comfortable' with that particular topic then close the tutorial and move on to the next one until you find one that you do not seem to knwo much about and study that . Study IV Flow Rates and compounding as well as AWP pricing if you are not familiar with them in the math. Hope this helps you, Jeanetta Mastron CPhT BS Pharm Tech Educator Founder/Owner > > Hi Jeanetta, I am finally going to take the exam this friday. I am very nervous about what is on it. Guest guest
HI ...I'm new to the site and the group and i am currently working in a correctional institute here in NYC and am planning to take the PTCB exam this year. I tried to follow the tutorials but somehow i am not able to open the tutorial file for law and ethics in your site, I tried a few times but instead it gives me a message thata says " The requested document in not accessible " I am trying to get to your Tutorial file and open the Law and Ethics files and this is the message i get. What seem to be the problem ? I am hoping to take the exam in November. Guest guest
Hi Gloria, I just spoke in NYC in March on Pharmacy Technicians. Do me a favor and try these methods: Go to the HOME page of this study site At the left is a yellow menu click on Files then scroll to 5th Folder on Tutorials Click on it. Then Click on the # 2 folder for Ethics and Law If that does not do it then try this link to the main folder: Files > 5- Tutorial-1 & Study Information /files/5-%20Tutorial\ -1%20%26%20Study%20Information/ Here is the link tothe Law and Ethics folder: Files > 5- Tutorial-1 & Study Information > S 2- Law and Ethics > /files/5-%20Tutorial\ -1%20%26%20Study%20Information/S%202-%20Law%20and%20Ethics/ Here is a link to a Controlled Substances Document: Files > 5- Tutorial-1 & Study Information > S 2- Law and Ethics > Controlled Substances /files/5-%20Tutorial\ -1%20%26%20Study%20Information/S%202-%20Law%20and%20Ethics/Controlled%20Substanc\ es/ Please let me know if any of these work for you. I have no problem opening them up. Do you have a Mac? These are word documents. Guest guest
The links are long and a bit broken. You can copy all of the link and if it leaves off a bit at the end, go back copy that and paste it after what you already placed in your browser/address window. Okay another way to do this is weird but it worked for me: do what I just said and if it does not work then using the drop down arrow look for the longest recent link....it just may be the whole link that you copied!!!! It was for me and it worked. Finally using www.tinyurl.com you can copy the whole link and make a small link out of it. PLEASE let me know which worked for you. Guest guest
Dear Gloria, I would say if you feel VERY comfortable with math then go for overall study. IF you do not feel very comfortable with math then study more math. Did you try my quizzes that are online, electronic, free and self grading? Did you try the quizzes on TechLectures? I know he now has them for sale at a very low price of 5 or 6 dollars. But he may still have some free ones. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi Deepika This is copied from my invite It will be EMQ and SAQ and apparently around 150 qs one day and 150 second. How they count marks-really don't know Examination Details: There are two written papers for Part 1 of the ORE: Paper A covers clinically applied dental science and clinically applied human disease. Paper B covers aspects of clinical dentistry, including law and ethics and health and safety. Each paper lasts 3 hours and is made up of Multiple Short Answer questions (Extended Matching Questions and Single Best Answer Questions). Examples of this type of questioning are available to candidates as guidance under the ORE guidance page on the GDC website: http://www.gdc-uk.org/Potential+registrant/Examination+for+Overseas+Qualified+Dentists/ Please see the various links that can be accessed through the side headings on this page.
