Guest guest
ok call me under educated on this but can some one explain to me the difference between glutan and flour or wheat products. Is there a differance? I have started a modified BBD removing things a little at a time. I have removed sugar, fake sugars, beef, pork, even chicken but to tell the truth I don't want to leave wheat or dairy behind. I would not mind more advice on this. Guest guest
Zill, From what I understand, there are more people allergic to wheat and dairy than just about anything. Most don't even know it. They don't associate that headache or fatigue to allergies! Gluten is in most all wheat products (maybe ALL). I don't know much, but I do know that celiacs can't tolerate ANY gluten. There are some grains that don't contain gluten. Ask at the health food store. They have funny names. Guest guest
Add to the list of non-gluten flours that are BBD friendly: Amaranth flour quinoa flour (pronounced keen-wa) potato flour buckwheat flour (even though wheat is in the name, there is no wheat in it) and possibly Oat flour (but the jury is still out as to whether oats contain gluten) There are also pasta products that don't contain gluten Rice Noodles (Thai brand has thin, stir fry and wide) Brown Rice Pasta by Tinkyada (these seem to have the best consistency after cooking) Quinoa Brand pasta These 3 pastas are available at Meijer I wouldn't touch dairy with a ten foot pole, I feel so much better w/o it. Haven't had dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt, etc) in almost 2 years. No congestion, stuffy head, etc. Zil, why are you cutting out chicken? It's allowed on the BBD. Guest guest
Zil, Gluten is in all types of flour that are made from any type of grain. Almond flour, rice flour, etc. contain no gluten. Do try to avoid gluten and dairy products as well. Guest guest
My wife has been a celiac for years now and avoiding wheat or gluten as it is known as. is very hard heck its even in some cornstarches and soya sauces. Since we have had prior knowledge of wheat allergies exacerbating M.S. symptoms we tried to limit the wheat flour, gravys etc. but if you go out you will come in contact with it! Just try to stay away from Kentucky fried chicken but not eating meat is your preference, I have vegetarian relates and do respect their wishes as they don't cook with wheat for my wife.I won't barbque for them.
