Hi!

1. LDN and Lupus

I am so glad to hear there are people with Lupus who benefited greatly

from LDN. This is another example of the fact that we do not

understand theoretically well why LDN works. Please keep us posted

about the results and type of Lupus (systemic, skin type etc.).

2. Protein causing intestine and Blood Brain Barrier permeability in

celiac disease

This was an excellent post, and it is great news that research starts to

get closer to every day practice. I am eager to hear more about this as

I also have celiac disease and on gluten free diet.

3. LDN and interferons

I agree with Bill Meikle's post that LDN not only enhances the immune

system but does several other things that may be the more relevant

effects. In theory it raises the level of beta endorphin, and this

hormone suppresses the Th1 cells and enhances the Th2 cells.

Interferon Beta also works by suppressing some Th1 cells. So I do not

see a conflict here (there would be, however a conflict with Interferon

Gamma, a drug given to Hepatitis B and C patients, because that is

enhancing Th1 cells to fight the virus).

However this simple model is probably overly simplistic and as earlier

posts show is not good to explain why LDN works for Lupus patients so

indeed more research should be done in this area.

Yours,

M.

There is a new drug out in Europe and will be oked here soon that is

supposed to be the next set over SSRI's and is said to help those with

Lupus. You may want to check it out.
