Guest guest
Hi again, I've just read about two people having operations and, due to being on LDN, have suffered enormous pains due to morphine or what ever other pain killers administered not working with the LDN. My question is, while ive heard that LDN helps with the post operative recovery, what should one do before an operation? How long should LDN be stopped before going into hospital? Also, being such low doses - 4.5 or less, how is it that pain killers are not even partially effective? I think its important to know what to do as some of us may need an operation in future and shouldn't have to endure so much pain. Should I put these questions to Dr. Bihari's site? Thanks heaps Friday
Guest guest
I just had a port inserted (Wednesday) and stopped LDN six days before ther surgery. I had no problems and will probably resume LDN tomorrow. Guest guest
Hi Friday, I had my last dose of ldn Friday night-had the accident Sat morning- they operated Sund morning-woke up lunch time and they had put a block in the leg which seemed to work. That started to wear off late afternoon and they hooked me up to IV self help pain relief. I am allergic to morphine, so not sure what I was on. When you need you press the button and it shoots the pain relief into the IV needle. After spending the most horrible night the pain management guys saw me early next morning and changed medication. To cut a long story short it was Monday lunch time before the pain was relieved, so thats 3 days. I guess you would need to be off ldn 3 to 4 days before and they would need to know. They added anti-inflammatories and panadol to the pain killers I was on and that seemed to kick in and work. I guess when you think about it we should really have a bracelet or something to say we are on ldn in case of an emergency. -------Original Message------- From: low dose naltrexone Date: 07/09/04 22:14:32 low dose naltrexone Subject: [low dose naltrexone] LDN and Operations Hi again, I've just read about two people having operations and, due to being on LDN, have suffered enormous pains due to morphine or what ever other pain killers administered not working with the LDN. Guest guest
I ordered a Medicalert necklace the same day I ordered LDN from Skip. I had gotten one month's supply from a local pharmacy and waited to order the Medicalert until I was sure I was going to continue on the LDN. From the posts I've read I'm just not sure about LDN interfering with pain killers. If you are allergic to morphine the I doubt you would have been given any of the opiates, so you may have had another issue blocking your pain management meds. But if I'm in an accident and unable to explain that I'm taking a drug that MIGHT interfere with opiates I sure want someone to know, so I wear the necklace and keep the card in my wallet. It's cheap insurance against a miserable time being worse than necessary. ----- Original Message ----- From: OBrien low dose naltrexone Sent: Saturday, July 10, 2004 2:55 AM Subject: Re: [low dose naltrexone] LDN and Operations Hi Friday, I had my last dose of ldn Friday night-had the accident Sat morning- they operated Sund morning-woke up lunch time and they had put a block in the leg which seemed to work.
