Guest guest
Hello Jeanetta, Thanks for your wishes. I gave my exam on Saturday April 23rd. My scores would come in a couple of weeks time. I have done my Bachelors in Chemistry in India which is only a three year course compared to the 4 years Bach. here in the US. I am stay home mom and now after 10 years decided to start fresh since my kids are big and independent now. I have had great interest in Pharmacy and decided to take a course in pharmacy technician, inquired in county colleges, checked various online courses and did an extensive research before deciding to do self study. My main resource was various websites (including this main group) and a book Pharmacy Technician 4th edition by Press Perspective that I brought in Amazon. Studied on an average of 3 hours per day during the week and 5-6 hours over the weekend for the past three months. Had to put in this much of effort since I lost touch with studies since 1991. (20 long years) I did many practice tests (mostly from the various websites) after finishing the book. Your group was very helpful in providing links to tests. The knowledge that I received from these tests were very helpful in learning the subject as such. My difficult part was memorizing drugs, their contraindication and the classification. At the end, everything helped me, the test was also easy. So waiting eagerly for my scores to see how I fared in each area. Regarding pursuing a career, since I do not have any formal training, internship or experience working in a mock lab or pharmacy setting, I have started volunteering in a hospital outpatient pharmacy since a month. Getting to know about the practical side of the book that I studied. I am planning to look out for jobs only after a year or so after gaining enough hands on experience. I will for sure post my score once I receive them. Once again, thank you Jeanetta for your website, for your words of encouragement. Thanks and regards geetha ..com> wrote: > > > Where do I start with your tutorials. How can I locate them? > > > > > > > Hello Jeanetta, > > > > > > I took the exam today and passed. Guest guest
Dear Geetha CPhT. Thank you for sharing your background and experience. I am curious to kno what state and city you are in that would take a volunteer and give them hands on experience. Dye to liability issues here in CA we only see this with the schools. The volunteer work is only to run errands and courier, but not of drugs. They are not even allowed inside most pharmacies, but work in person via the pick up window. But I am aware of varying state laws that would yield such a volunteer capacity. Please share with us what state and city. So you studied from 20 to 27 hours per week for three months . That is great! that is 240 hours to 324 hours total in all. I commend you. This site is full of so many tutorials to supplement your books chapters and in some cases in addition to some books that lack specific topics. This site also has links to other sites with other tutorials as well as quizzes and tests online. Glad you were able get to use this site to your benefit. Please keep us posted on your score and also your career path. Thank you again for sharing. Respectfully, Jeanetta Mastron CPhT BS > > > Where do I start with your tutorials.
