Guest guest
Thank you ! My comments and opinions to Part I: I wonder if " considering setting up a certification program in IV admixture " means that PTCB would conduct its own program as in teaching it? or IF it means only in certification! Will PTCB reap the benefits or income of providing education? That would be much like ICPT reaping form selling its book and program. Some may call this a conflict of interest. Others will applaud PTCB. I believe that ANY licensing or certifying body should NOT be involved in the teaching of its content to the test takers and definitely NOT be making money off of both! This is a conflict of interest to me. Much like the doctor who would claim you are ill, charge you for the visit, then write a prescription only to send you downstairs to his or her pharmacy to have it filled. A double whammy $$$ to the patient! No wonder doctors can not own pharmacies in the USA!!! I believe this is an ETHICAL issue! Once again folks: Let's get Ethical Ethical! So it is one thing to say you have completed an IV course through XYZ program, you get a certificate of completion and a grade of how you did. But it is another thing to have a STATE then give you a practical exam to see if you can pass the requirements of the state proving tha the school or program is teaching what it should and content is valid and you know your stuff. So I have no problem with any entity charging for its IV program unless they are also the CERTIFYING body! That makes NO sense to me! A blatant conflict of interest!~ Case in point: Isn't this why pharmacy schools are not allowed to LICENSE???? Come on to take the licensing exam is VERY different than say8ing you graduated from XYZ School of Pharmacy with a gpa of 3.2. Where is the overseeing of the licensing exam if we delegate it to the very colleges that provide the education??? It is called ethics! Ethics PEOPLE! I wish PTCB great income and success because after all ICPT sells a manual and makes money from that and also gets to charge its test takers. So why shouldn't PTCB make some money from a IV Program instead of endorsing one that is private? Why should they continue to NOT sell anything except the PTCE test? (if you can't read my sarcasm I don't know what to tell you). You know what people? If you are missing the point perhaps this will get it across: I think I will begin my own certification exam because the judge said it can yield CPhT behind it's name. Then since there is NO entity that states that it is or is not equal to PTCE or ExCPT I will then go to every state and get it on the agenda to have the state accept it. Some will some won't. Then after I do that I will sell some books, videos, classes in practical so that the masses who take the exam believe that in order to pass my certification exam they have to have MY books and such. Then I will charge my students to take my exam. Then I will certify them even if my test is not proven to be valid or compared, then I will make some CE's and make sure that my listing of test takers gets an email that the CE's are available. And in order to keep their certification valid they have to take MY CE's. Does that cover it? It is called ETHICS everyone! I hope this post helps PTCB to state that they will in fact be offering a certification EXAM not a program. Keep the programs in the SCHOOLS where they belong!!! Keep the certification process separate and where it belongs! Part II I hope PTCB does have continuous testing! It would help tremendously for schools that have continuous open enrollment! I do hope that I have misunderstood what is meant by the word " Program'. If they had said 'certification' as in testing I would have NO problem! Respectfully, Jeanetta Mastron CPhT BS Founder/Owner PS I have NO problem with entities like NPTA or Joe Medina's Techlectures or other entities that offer IV Sterile Product Programs that yield a Certification from that program. That certification is like a diploma or proof of completion. BUT I am opposed to these programs being the STATES way of testing. I think once again having a THIRD IMPARTIAL CERTIFICATION AGENCY would mean that it would give the final National or State certification for a given discipline of pharmacy technology. It would oversee all companies so that one's certificate is as meaningful as another's. It would serve to be a JCAHO of certification companies, tests and all other boards.
