Guest guest
I think the mystry of how naltrexone works is best left for the scientists but when you ask if a high dose makes your immune system weaker? Then I counter by asking then why do recovering addicts now get pregnant easier once on naltrexone. I think the biggest thing to remember is that first we take a very low dose of naltrexone, which works way different than the recommended addicts dose of fifty mgs. Plus no one really knows if M.S. is an autoimmune disease, they are now changing there minds on that. That reaction you describe is what I would guess to be a reaction to the filler in your fifty mg. tablet. I hear that even the 50mg tablet has a filler. What it is I don't know.maybe Avicel if you are allergic to sawdust! I am still vague on how naltrexone works. With addicts they give 50 milligrams. I assume the drug plugs into the brain receptor sites and the body thinks it has the endorphins it needs. At low dose, however, you take it at night at about 3-4.5 milligrams and it shuts down endorphin production, causing a rebound in production in the morning giving you more endorphins then you would normally have and endorphins are important to the function of the immune system. Is that close????? I'm just wondering because I just started at 50 milligrams, and feel great, but suddenly came down with a swollen throat - an allergic reaction I would get a lot as a kid to the uncovered insulation in our house and later to sawdust etc. I rarely get it now as an adult. Could there be a connection? If the drug mimics endorphins at a high dose and takes their receptor sites, could it make you immune system weaker, since you wouldn't have the real thing? Guest guest
Taking 50mg is going to hurt your MS. At 50mg of Naltrexone you are blocking your endorphins for 24 straight hours. Very bad for MS.
