Guest guest
Hi all, Just had to respond to the comments about barometric pressure. (I know I've been pretty quiet as of late- just had my liver biopsy last week- big friggin' needle! and am now waiting out the results) Anyhoo...I can attest to the outside pressure having an effect on my body- even though I do not have MS (that I know of anyway- still testing)... but whenever the pressure goes up outside, the tattoo on my left upper arm raises up on my skin...you can actually feel it bulging up. I am not the only person with a tattoo in this region to report this effect. It only seems to apply to ink on the shoulder or upper arm...not sure why? But if the BP can cause subdermal ink to rise then I can imagine it could effect your overall energy and health easily... just a strange aside. I have also noticed that when the BP goes up my BP seems to go up! and I get headaches easily. And here is another one for the few posters that mentioned adverse effects and having to stop or start LDN 3-4 times because of nausea or stomach upset: Have any of you been on narcotic pain meds prior to beginning the LDN? I was sedated for my liver biopsy with a combo than included a narcotic and then given IV pain meds after. I started my LDN the next day thinking that was enough time for the opiate-based meds to get out of my system....WRONG! I had awful stomach cramps and intestinal distress, nausea, body aches for the first 4 days... so I discontinued the LDN (but stayed on my Hypericin- the anti-viral portion of my HepC treatment) until I can detox any trace of opiates out of my body. I may be ultra-sensitive? But I have been off and on pain meds for the past 18 month due to chronic pain issues...plus a surgery, biopsy or two or three. I prefer being off them. But I was taken off my anti-inflammatory meds for 2 wks prior to the liver biopsy to prevent internal bleeding and had to fall back on hydrocodone for some bad days. Even my weekly B12 shot didn't seem to take the edge off my burning pain. I think my opiate receptors are blocked because of this and the LDN triggered a kind of withdrawal effect. So to those who have had several bad go's with the LDN...check your Rx history. Have you been taking anything like vicodin or tylenol #3? Even just sporadically? It could be the reason you responded so negatively to the LDN. Try a good herbal detox and then reinitiate the LDN. That is my plan. I'll keep you all posted on my progress as I get the results of my liver test and watch my viral count. I know there are a couple of others on this forum who are interested in the LDN for HepC...anything to avoid the interferon/ribavirin route! And if anyone has any knowledge about a VEP test or an SSEP test (both to rule out MS and lower-limb myelopathy) could you drop me a line? I am having these tests in the next couple of weeks and would like a personal account. I've read the medical jargon but prefer a non-medical perspective on what to expect. Thanks heaps to all of you for posting and ranting, and praising and raving. And Aegis, glad to hear you are back on-line. Best all around, Lara Sweating in Seattle (hot and sunny- now isn't that funny?)
