Guest guest
Dear Jeanetta, Yes I have done some pharm tech volunteering this past summer. I don't think you need to have at least 6 months of job training in Texas before taking the PTCB exam; however, I'm not sure about that. I believe the maximum amount of taking the PTCB is correct. How long does it take for the PTCB Certificate to arrive in the mail? Sincerely, From: rxjm2002@... But in general: YES you now need to wait for your PTCB Certificate to arrive in the mail. You can go on the PTCB websiteto see that you have passed the exam and of course the testing center has already let you know that you have passed. Now I have to say unless this has changed, I thought you had to have at least 6 months of on the job training in Texas before you could take the PTCB exam and that you could take it only 2 or 3 times max. Please correct me and let us know the specifics 'anyone'! In most states where fingerprinting is required, you would get fingerprinted BEFORE or AT the SAME TIME you are APPLYING for registration as part of the application process, NOT afterwards! One must PASS the fingerprint background check (if required by their state) in order to get registered and to work as a tech. IF your state does not require fingerprints, then this point is moot. have you ever done any pharm tech on the job training ? I tried to register as a pharmacy technician on the Texas State Board of Pharmacy website, however it asked for my certification # and expiration date, but I didn't have it. Am I suppose to wait for a certificate to be mailed to my home, and then register with the State Board right? After I register, I believe I need to get a finger print. Guest guest
, Here is the information from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy website. You will need to wait for your certification #. It says to submit your application first and then get your fingerprints. You do not have to have any on the job training or formal education in Texas, just pass the PTCB and the register with the TSBP. I'm sorry I can't tell you how long it takes to get your certificate or to complete the registration process, as I took the PTCB test in 1999, and registered with Texas in 2004 when they were first starting all of it. At that time you didn't have to get the fingerprints, so I don't know anything about that part either, sorry! Hope this helps a little! , CPhT Pharmacy Technician Registration Pharmacy Technician: An individual who is registered with TSBP as a pharmacy technician and whose responsibility in a pharmacy is to provide technical services that do not require professional judgment regarding preparing and distributing drugs and who works under the direct supervision of and is responsible to a pharmacist. Registration Requirements To register as a Pharmacy Technician, an individual must: - have a current certificate issued by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB); and - complete TSBP application process. Application Process To complete the application process, an individual must: -submit the application provided online (link at bottom of this page); -complete a fingerprint session through L1 Identity Solutions, which includes a fee of $40 to $45; and pay a registration fee after the application has been approved. Fingerprint Process “ Beginning March 9, 2009 " Information on how and when to register for a fingerprint session will be on the confirmation page once the application is submitted. Exception to fingerprinting applies IF you are an ACTIVE Registered Technician Trainee, and a fingerprinting session was completed as part of the TSBP application process. Information Necessary for Registration Application Before you begin the online application process provided at the bottom of this page, you will need the following information: 1. Current certificate number and expiration issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB); 2. Social Security Number (SSN); 3. Date of High School graduation or completion of G.E.D.; and 4. Employers name and address, and pharmacy license number if employed by a Texas licensed pharmacy Monitor Application Status Online at: http://www.tsbp.state.tx.us/dbsearch/tech_search.asp. Remember that an individual, who wishes to perform duties in a pharmacy, including technician duties, must have an ACTIVE registration. While the application is being processed, you will see your name posted online, however, you must pay attention to the “current status†of that registration. During the application process, you will observe the following statuses: PND (Pending) means not yet approved. APP (Applicant) means approved for payment (required within 90 days, or the application is cancelled). Checking or monitoring the status online is a great idea, however, check each Tuesday, as status updates (PND to APP) occur only once per week Initial Registration Fee Required “ After Approval " AFTER the application is approved (APP), an initial registration fee must be submitted within 90 days. If an applicant fails to submit the fee within 90 days, the application is cancelled and the applicant must begin the application process again, including the fingerprinting session. See 297.4 regarding Fees. REMINDER: The fee can not be submitted until after the application is approved. Applicants are urged to refrainfrom calling TSBP staff regarding pending applications, especially if the application is pending approval due to criminal history, until 4 months from the date the application was submitted. Repeated attempts to call staff further delays processing time ..
