After pharm tech test

Hi,

I took the pharmacy technician test and passed last week. What's the next step

to becoming certified? I tried to register as a pharmacy technician on the Texas

State Board of Pharmacy website, however it asked for my certification # and

expiration date, but I didn't have it. Am I suppose to wait for a certificate to

be mailed to my home, and then register with the State Board right? After I

register, I believe I need to get a finger print. How long will all of this take

to process?

Sincerely,

Dear ,

There are several members from Texas who I am hoping will answer your

question more specifically regarding Texas law. But in general: YES you now need

to wait for your PTCB Certificate to arrive in the mail.

You can go on the PTCB websiteto see that you have passed the exam and of course

the testing center has already let you know that you have passed.

Now I have to say unless this has changed, I thought you had to have at least 6

months of on the job training in Texas before you could take the PTCB exam and

that you could take it only 2 or 3 times max. Please correct me and let us know

the specifics 'anyone'!

In most states where fingerprinting is required, you would get fingerprinted

BEFORE or AT the SAME TIME you are APPLYING for registration as part of the

application process, NOT afterwards!

One must PASS the fingerprint background check (if required by their state) in

order to get registered and to work as a tech. IF your state does not require

fingerprints, then this point is moot.

have you ever done any pharm tech on the job training ?

Hope this helps,
