Guest guest
Reg, are you telling us that your doctor put you on 2x20mg of baclofen straight away? No gradual increasing to start from 10mg and work your way up when your body is use to it? That blows my mind if thats the case Friday --- In low dose naltrexone , " Reg Kreil " <regkreil@h...> wrote: > Have you tried the Baclofen pills yet? Guest guest
Reg, when it comes to Baclofen, I have alot of experience - 15 years infact. It is a strong drug which must be weaned into our bodies slowly. This is the best way to tolerate it - 2 weeks at 5mg, 3 times a day (never 2 times a day because that would be too many hours in between giving the muscles time to stiffen up and spasm again). Then increase to 10mg 3 times a day for a while, see how you go, you could find this is your optimum dose. I know people who take 5mg every 4 hours too, a slow release continuous level in the body. That way you dont give it time to wear out. Also, its one of those medications tht must not be stopped abruptly, a gradual weaning off by reducing the dose to nothing eventually. You'll find that this is helpful. However, if someone doesnt have spasms and stiffness, why take it? When the drug first came out many years ago, quadriplegics and paraplegics were given it in higher doses and the poor bastards would hallucinate on it. They were guinea pigs for the drug, but alot more is known about it now. The general rule is, minimum disability = minimum dose. I dont know any person who walks who is taking 20mg. its too high for a walker. I am in a wheelchair and over the years, with worsening of PPMS, i am now at 25mg 3 times a day. Yes, it ruins your vision, makes you tired and who knows what else. Hope my background history and info helps you.
