Guest guest
I got my certificate and score today. It says 771 total (797 Assist Pharmacist in Serving Patients, 686 Maintain Med. Inventory Control Systems, 778 Admin Mgmt of Pharmacy Practice) I would LOVE it if someone can give me a review of this. I know 771 is passing but is it good, standard, not so good, lacking?? If it was a standard score (70-100, A-F) where would you put it? Also seeing that Maintain Med. Inventory Control Systems is the lowest at 686, what area do I need to concentrate/study more on? Thanks, Bethany
Guest guest
Hi Bethany, Your score is a good score. It is hard to identify what actual percent it would equal as PTCB does give different point values for each question asked. Suffice to say, I would consider your score to be above average. As for your low score, that has to do with mainly Pharmacy operations of which you will learn on the job...so you really are not lacking as you put it. Enjoy the moment and know that you now can wear that " CPhT " behind your name with the utmost of pride. Joe Medina, CPhT ------------ I got my certificate and score today. Guest guest
Hi Bethany, I think you did great! Especially for a self-study no hands on experience. My classroom students average 740 or so, the average range is 680 to 780 or so. My highest classroom student was 826, my lowest student passing grade was 650 neither are common grades for my students. Few are above 800 and few below 700 with most in between, JUST LIKE YOU! They take their PTCB at various times before or during or after live hands on in the externship, which ever is the closest time of the open window. So someone who has completed externship would usually typically have a higher score due to the hands on experience. (that is if we could say all things being equal, but because they are different people we can only look at data and trends). I once had a student who was brilliant in book and text and testing, but she was all thumbs when it came to lab: filling cassettes, making IV's etc. She could do the same math problems on paper thinking them through but once she was in the lab she floundered. For most people hands on enhances learning and understanding. She was what I call a book person or book smart. She got two areas very high in high 700's and low 800's with a low grade in the Med. Inventory Control Systems . It was below 650! But she passed the exam overall. with a 'combined score' or 'total score' in about 725 or so. That low score brought down that total, but she passed. When all is said and done, not too many employers ask about scores. Most just want a copy of the certificate as proof that you passed. And those that do ask either paid for you taking the exam or are your 'first' employer. After some experience on a job, and seeking a new job, rarely does a new employer ask to see your 'score'. So it is a great gauge to use to see how you compare. But ultimately your CPhT is equal to mine and mine is equal to yours and this is when experience, character, personality, team player, flexibility in action, mindset and schedule and many other factors may override score . I hope this makes sense to you. You did great and congratulations Bethany CPhT! Respectfully, Jeanetta Mastron CPhT BS Pharm Tech Educator Founder/Owner > > I got my certificate and score today.
