Guest guest
'mornin nne The big lightning storms went right around us. We got a lot of wind and some rain (not nearly enough) but most of it was north of us. About 5:30 we had tornado warnings and one was spotted on dopplar radar about 15 minutes north of us. That must have been when we got the major wind. We were out by the pool and my husband and I pulled both umbrellas out of the glass tables as fast as we could. A lot of times people don't think of that and those things can be like torpedos if the wind takes them. And its been known to happen and I don't mean because the umbrellas are open. High winds can take them right out of their stands when the umbrellas are down, too. We're having an algae problem in Ilion's water the last week and we're right on the border of having to boil it. Please remember that, girls. M

Guest guest
So far we have no new snow upstate NY, the MSNBC map says we do, we might just be lucky and avoid the production. I hope all are safe today, don't travel if you don't have to. NO trip is worth the possible consequences. Remember spring will get here, be patient, life is stirring under the snow, we know that! Someday the daffodils will poke through followed by the myriads of spring flowers!~ Yes Carol, I have never seen a winter like this in the 32 years I have lived up here, we had the whole winters expected total by Jan 29th! 91" to that date 91" being normal Anne

Guest guest
Having lived most of my life on the east coast, my many symphathies!!! It is a rough storm moving through. A few days of enchantment are great, after that, sigh...I now live on the west coast and we got our first rain in a long time. Over 12 inches in some areas in one day!! We've had many mud slides because of all the fires last year and lots and lots of flooding! Alot of our roads were impassible for a few days, but we dealt with it, just glad I don't live in LA!! Another storm is trying it's best to dump more, we shall see... > the ice we had the last few days was nothign like last year when it was > the worst in history here. carol > > On Sun, 16 Feb 2003 21:06:36 -0500 " Nana " <jmducky@e...> writes: > We're being hit by it hard! Guest guest
Years ago we had a rabid racoon out back (you could definatley tell), we called someone and they said they could not or would not come out and do anything about it unless it had hurt someone. So my hubby who is NOT a hunter, had to go out and shoot it and burn it. Very upsetting for him. I dont think the fox is acting particularly strange ( I did see two babies one nite) but she is too close for comfort. Rocky was absolutly not a happy kitty yesterday havign to stay inside on a nice day but I let him play in the tub (he likes to play with water). I was taking my dd to walmart yesterday and I said to her, look at that rain! You could see it comming down, not on us but maybe like 15 miles south of us, I dont think she has ever seen rain in the distance like that (use to see it like that all the time out West). Then all sudden, huge drops started falling on us too but it only lasted a few minutes. Shaye

We do > have rabies in Niagara County. Glad my kitties are indoor cats. > > Jeanine huh that is funny. Cops wont do a darn thing in our area here in greece. We called them and Animal control at least once a year. Either with ducks or what not. Animal control is a big help one year an nimal control person as well as most of my family spent several hours trying to catch a duck in the channel along our yard. I found the duck with a fishing lure attaching both of its feet together. We managed to FINALLY catch it and the guy got the hooks out and let it loose. Last summer at this time I found a raccoon sleeping in our yard under a tree. we called the cops and they wouldn't do a darn thing. They arn't allowed to pull guns out in the area to kill an animal. They wouldn't even get animal control to us. They just told us to watch it and call animal control (two days later) when they were on duty (it was during a holiday weekend as this) Animal control said it was a bunch of croc. With all the dog owners in the area the cops should have called. Another incedent was with duck. It got attacked by a dog or something. Just sitting in the middle f our yard suffering and quacking. No one would do anything cause cops werent allow to shoot it. We just had to wait for it to die. Forgot what happened to it. Story is Animal control= good. cops=bad
Guest guest
They had the police at some of the stations here in Toledo today as they were still selling gas at the $2.60 price until they were down to there fill line and then the prices hiked to $3.09 - $3.30 and the people were very angry and fighting to get the lower prices, its a sad sad situation ( How have you been doing??? ((( Caring Hugs ))) Helen Good evening all, I haven't posted much but am reading every couple ofdays. Welcome to the newbies & to any of you that'vehad birthdays, hope they were fantastic. Here in Cincinnati, it's been raining about 12 hoursnow. I'm not sure how much we actually got. We weresupposed to have thunderstorms & possible tornados, but I guess we lucked out. In regards to the gas prices, when I got home fromwork a couple hours ago, it ranged from $2.59-$2.65. Pretty sad when my Cavalier used to get filled up on$20/week, & it's recently been almost $30! WAAAAHHHH. I guess I really shouldn't complain. I don't rememberthe gas rationing of the 70's (too young), so maybethis isn't too bad. Hopefully once the Senate getsback to DC, something will happen. You all take care. Potts

Guest guest
So you got hit with a storm. Support your friendly local autistics...........I'm one of them. Storm We got hit pretty hard last night from the storm that blew through here... One of our (over 100 ft tree's ) lost about 40 feet of its top and it is now through my roof and ceiling upstairs... We also lost power along with the entire town of Swanton and the airport here for 4 hours... Couldn't see the damage till this morning, but besides the hole through our roof with a limb still through it, it damage the back roof by tearing off the facer board and lifting the shingles up the entire link... The top roof on the other bedroom is smashed in, in several places, we don't really know what the damage totally is until the insurance adjuster finally gets out here... When the big part of the one tree came down it also brought big limbs down from three other trees... I have large limbs on three sides of the house plus the roof... Two of our window frames are pushed in and can't be shut, so are going to be very busy next few days... On top of all this I have the reunion for my family which I'm the head of with my brother today... Will keep in touch when I get home... They just said more storms coming in today late... Hope the rest of you have survived this weather this year... ((( Smiling Hugs )))helen Get trade secrets for amazing burgers. Watch "Cooking with Tyler Florence" on AOL Food. Guest guest
Where do you live? I'm in IL and we had tornado watches last night but I don't think any touched down. How terrifying to have a limb come through your roof!!!! And the possibility of more storms!!!! If you don't mind, I will keep you in my prayers that you're able to get your roof at least temporarily fixed before any more storms/damage and for your safety. But the bad weather has been everywhere. Thank God no one was injured at your home and I pray the storms miss you this time around. Guest guest
Yeah, we've had bad storms too.
