Hi all,

My family doesn't quite " get " what I'm doing, but I had to share this with

someone because it's very exciting to me! Tomorrow I finish my 7 months of

classroom studies for my pharm tech program. It really hasn't been too hard

(I have a good instructor) and I had a lot of background going into it, but

it's still a milestone never-the-less. I passed my exit exam with a 97%

which was the highest exit exam score in the history of the program. :-D On

Monday, I begin my 300-hour externship at a home infusion/IV pharmacy which

is very interesting to me. I wanted the IV experience in case I want to work

at a hospital some day. There are a lot of pharm tech opportunities here in

Las Vegas, and I wanted to keep the door open for various routes. I just got

my USP 797 certification too, so I am ready to roll! I am not quite sure

where this path will lead me as far as employment, etc and of course I want

to continue on with my plans for pharmacy school, but I just wanted to share

my excitement with those who can relate. The icing on the cake will be my

PTCB results which hopefully will show up soon.

Jeanetta, thanks for everything you do to further the profession of pharmacy

technicians. I am very thankful to have found this site of like-minded

people and even though I have taken (and hopefully passed!) the exam, I

would like to remain as part of the group. I will help in whatever way I

can, even though I am still learning myself.

Congratulations Lori! Home infusion is fun and I hope you enjoy it.

Be sure to learn as much as you can because that's going to be very

valuable to you someday. One of my technicians whom I put through a

pharmacy technician did so well and impressed the pharmacy manager

that she got hired on day 2 of her externship, she broke the record

for that school and nobody has ever done that.

Can I ask which home infusion company you will be working at?

Again many congrats and good luck!

Dear Lori,

You have contributed to the group continually and I appreciate your

contributions and efforts. Even though you are an entry level tech/student your

input is invaluable none-the-less. CONGRATULATIONS on the 97% and the

externship at home infusion. My students who have done HI have loved it. I am

looking forward to your next mile stone of passing the CPhT exam when on Dec 19

you let us know.

You are MOST welcome to all that I can offer here on this site and then some!

:) So never hesitate to ask for anything. Glad to hear LV is growing so fast!

Many of my students are moving there too!

PLEASE remain in the group and share your experiences here. You are most

welcome to do so. When the time comes for Letters of Rec for pharm school, let

me know if you need anything.

Love ya and keep on posting!

Well they had a few openings. I am just wondering if I should go there or

another hospital.

Dear ,

My advice: Apply so that if you do not get hired soon elsewhere you can

a. have an income while looking if you do not like it

b. build time or experience to take to another job and have on a

resume to get another job.

Of course if you have a lead on another job 'offer' that may be a

different story as you would not want to start and then quit almost

immediately. But if you have NO leads, go for the application where

you finished your internship.
