G'day Friday,

Atleast it should be day or evening for you right now. Must plug my brain back into that time zone quickly as I expect to be back in Guam for a visit in a week or two. I'm hoping that the trip back "home" helps distract me from the Siren's call of the LDN that I locked up in my safe! (I really did lock it away so I won't be tempted)

Glad to hear the info about H2O was helpful. As for my daughter (Sydney, but named after her grand-dad, not my other favorite city in the world): A patient 7-yr-old...isn't that an oxymoron?

And as for my method approach to starting my LDN therapy, I think it is a must, if I am to get my Hepatologist to take it seriously. So I am ticking off the days on my calendar until I can start the treatment.

From the research I've done the protocol for HepC recommends starting at 1.5 for a week or two then up-ing the dose to 3.0 and holding there while co-administering 5-7 caps of the HY2 (Hypericin/St.'s Wort extract)...I am also putting the LDN to the test for my fibromy-a-whatsis. Have a consult with a neuro who specializes in MS, Autoimmune Disease on Monday. She will make the final ruling on what is causing the apthous ulcers on my tongue, the chronic pain and neuro symptoms (tho' most of the neuro tics and myoclonus has gotten better since my thyroid gland came out)...I do still have a problem with invonluntary muscle contractions (almost like a palsy at times) and dropping things- broke a plate yesterday, a bowl the day before. At this rate I won't have a dish left in the house by the end of the month! Sometimes my hands just don't work. While the majority of my chronic pain resides in my legs, the stiffness in my hands first thing each morning is very bothersome. The jury is still out but I am pretty sure I am dealing with Behcet's Disease (or Fibromyalgia) which has a combo of immune, neuro and other symptoms.

I may up the LDN to 4.5mgs if my viral count is dropping well...just to see if it improves my leg, knee and thigh pains. I am not looking forward to the sleep disturbances but was relieved to hear a few of you mention you can still tolerate benadryl ( I prefer Phenergan syrup, less drying and also helps my nausea) or even a sleeping pill. I do very poorly on Ambien (you know it as StillNox), it gave me genuine mental blackouts which were quite frightening. But Alprazolam helps me sleep when I can't get settled down- that's been a lot lately since I am kept chemically Hyperthyroid. Anyhoo...

I'll be checking in with all of you over the next few weeks...continue to tick off the days, hours and minutes until I can take my first dose. And I'll post any questions that creep up once I get started.

Thanks for the pep talk and other information. Good on ya, mate!

Hugs,

Lara

p.s. Oh, and as for the vitamin D, dearie....you are good to go. As long as the sun is getting to your face, arms, a bit of your chest that is all you need. About 10 minutes a day should be sufficient. Beware of burning! But you are far enough south of the Tropical North to not worry as much about the intensity of the sunshine. Right?

BTW, my DH is in Cairns at this very moment...did you get a psychic premonition or some such thing? He is smuggling me back about 10 pounds of my favorite 's gummy snakes. Sweet heaven in a bag all the way from OZ. Atleast the colors and flavors are all natural so that takes some of the sin out of it, eh? :-)
