Guest guest
Dear Ms.Jeanetta, Thank you for keeping track and being interested in my career. I started my Pharmacy Technician internship 3 weeks back. But I had to miss out a whole week due to personal problems. Now I am back to work. Now I have completed 2 weeks of internship. I work Mon-Sat. The island where I reside is 23 miles by 7 miles. The pharmacy where I am interning is 11 months old. I am the only certified Pharmacy Technician there !! I visited this pharmacy(it was first on my list ) and spoke to the pharmacist and he asked me to start straight away. The pharmacist did let slip that he needed to have one certified Tech working under him. I am not being paid anything (so far). I am happy to be working in a pharmacy than sitting at home. I have my foot in the door. There is another person with 8 years experience (from mainland USA) working in this pharmacy - extremely smart and very quick. But what is a major surprise to me is that this person could not pass the PTCB exam (attempted the exam once). I am being picked on a lot but I look at it as a way to help me improve myself. The goal is to make use of the opportunity and learn as much as possible. It is going to take more than words to make me disappear. So I always handle the aggressiveness by agreeing and not arguing. I definitely need to get better at work but it is going to take some time. I help in counting, labeling, diluting the suspensions, bagging the prescriptions after being checked by the pharmacist, putting price stickers on OTC products, arranging the OTC products on shelves, and at the check out counter. I also clean the shelves and take out trash. I have had very few opportunities to fill out the prescriptions on the computer (so far). When I do get it, I stink. I am looking to buy some books to help me learn Rx 30 software operations. There is a tiny library here but it has mainly fictions and not much help. The pharmacist has been quite nice and friendly so far.The initial feeling of my heart falling into my stomach and disintegrating when I first started working is now slowly disappearing. So far I do like what I am doing. If you have any suggestions for me to improve myself I would welcome it. I would like to thank all the experts on Jeanettas website and Mr.Joe Medina without whom I could not have traveled this far. Regards, Jaycee
