Thanks Aletha,

I would not hesitate if I had a condition that I knew would respond to LDN.I

am SO impressed with the success stories I have read on this site and it

inspires me to keep trying.

I just did not want to pay the money and find out he did not know what to do

with me which is the story of my life.I have seen/spoken with other American

doctors so have paid this sort of consult fee in the past but with no

success so these days,I tend to be more cautious unless I have more proof

that I might benefit from their particular treatment.

That is probably one of the main reasons I have been trying to find someone

else out there who has used LDN for Multiple Chemical Sensitivities(MCS) and

why I am enquiring about using even smaller doses as my ability to tolerate

even 1.5mg is not looking good at this stage.

I would LOVE to hear from anyone who has used it in ultra low doses as the

theory of going very slowly could make sense in my case.

Thanks

Treveen

NOTE...Dr Bihari may not be able to spend as much time on the phone as he has

before in these phone consults. He is currently in rehab for a fractured neck

and is in a very uncomfortable brace, in pain and is in a place where he gets

Physical Therapy daily.

My mom's phone consult before his accident was 90 minutes long but I think he

has only limited time from the convelescent home where he's getting PT.

The phone consult was $500. One may want to wait until Bihari is out of rehab

to do a phone consult if it's not an emergency. You may get a longer consult by

waiting.

Yes he does and apparently costs $500 for a phone consultation.

Hope this helps.

Also have Bihari contact Dr. Burton Berkson in New Mexico about

adding to the LDN intravenous alpha lipoic acid and recommending a

diet for this cancer. EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, always treat candida

yeast overgrowth in ANY cancer patient. There are physicians who

feel cancer is fungal linked. LDN will perform best if candida yeast

is in check.

Hi Arlene, yes apparently Dr Bihari does still do phone consultations

and from reading previous messages it will cost you $500.  It may be well worth

it.

Hope this helps

Hi Cat707k,I am relatively new to this group and I agree with you that for newcomers this dose-timing issue can be confusing. Here's how I see it (and anyone please feel free to contradict me with facts):LDN was basically 'discovered' in 1982 (http://www.biospace .com/news_ story.aspx? NewsEntityId= 44964) by Dr. Ian Zagon, an esteemed scientist working with immunity and opiate receptors. Dr Bihari subsequently became interested in this clinically, started administering it to patients and noticed remarkable results with specific illnesses, particularly with people who suffered from MS. Due to illness, Dr. Bihari doesn't seem to be active at this time. Dr. Zagon is and routinely corresponds with people who are interested.Several people, including myself, have *recently* queried Dr. Zagon about dose timing and the effects of

LDN. He is of the opinion (I suspect, based on his extensive research) that the endorphin effects of LDN are *not* dependent on the time of the day LDN is taken. He does *not* believe (as Dr. Skip does, for example) that there is a diurnal release of endorphins in the body. His recommendation for night time dosing is so that the LDN user can avoid the side effects that can be felt during the time the opioid recptors are blocked.Dr. Zagon states that no matter what time you take the LDN, increased amounts of endorphins can be found in the body for up to 72 hours later. Because of this 72 hour endorphin increase, he suggests that the benefits for LDN can even occur if LDN is taken every other day. That said...as Cat707k has aptly stated..this group has been here for years and was started by Dr. Gluck.. It seems, from what I have read, that the vast majority of people with MS take LDN, with great success, at night. I have read anecdotally

that when people with MS switch to daytime dosing, they suffer exacerbation of their illness that resolves when they return to night time dosing. From what I have read on this site and others, if I had MS I would stick with what has worked; night time dosing. The dedicated people who work with ill people on a daily basis (such as Dr. Skip and Dr Bihari when he was practicing) have the benefit of practical day in, day out experience to guide them in recommendations. From what I read on this site and elsewhere, they are basing their recommendations on what they are hearing and seeing from patients. The almost unanimous opinion of these people is that night time dosing works because it blocks the opiate receptors at the critical eary morning release of the body's endorphins. This triggers the body to create up to 300% more endorphins than usual; which is beneficial for the immune system. As I see it, at this point in time, there are

only a few sources of information about LDN at this point. They are:1. The compounding pharmacists such as Dr. Skip who work with individuals on a daily basis.2. Researchers such as Dr. Zagon who have studied LDN extensively in the lab and in clinical trials.3. Doctors who prescribe LDN (I have only heard from a few of these in this forum). Many of them, Like Dr. Berkson, only discuss LDN in short presentations at conferences.4. Authors of books on LDN.5. LDN websites run by people who are passionate about LDN5. Forums such as this. There are some people (numbers unknown), who for whatever reasons, can not tolerate the taking of LDN at night. I have read accounts on this site and others that they have received LDN benefits with daytime dosing. Because of the lack of controlled studies, and because of the 'underground' nature of LDN at this time, the confusion about dosing will remain. It would be nice if

someone were to write a "Frequently Asked Questions" document that would specifically and *objectively* discuss the timing issue so that people who end up not being able to tolerate night time dosing can make up their own mind.PS. I personally had problems with night time dosing, switched for two weeks to day time dosing, and for the past few days have taking it again at night and sleeping OK (3mg). I feel better with night time dosing because I did not like being awke during the period the opioid receptors were blocked.Cheers, McGovern>> I dont even know where this daytime/nightime stuff came from?!
