Guest guest
HI Kris , Im also an Aussie and am appalled at what the gov has done re the free trade agreement and our Pharmaceutical benefits scheme. Last night “on 4 corners “ they asked harvard law Prof and ANU law Prof their opinion about the “review “ clause in it …. And it came out how that really means “appeal “ And will probably result in Litigation if the PBS makes a decision that the american pharmaceuticals don’t like. The other thing was the person stating that Aussies are having a “free lunch “ which is a load of crap .Most of any decent innovative research that results in new miracle Drugs goes on inside Universities and not in drug companies, who are great on the marketing. You cant “buy” innovative ideas and years of good research with its fair share of dead ends .Drug companies are too in the “profit Mode” to be able to stand the length of time real research takes. My dad who died earlier this year ..travelled the world as a university pharmacologist doing research and consequently we know a lot of Pharmacologists from different Countries( including America) and all at some time do great innovative research I am worried about the future when we get old..and the cost of drugs…] Louise (oz).
