Guest guest
I've known people who weigh over 400 lbs successfully getting knee replacements. You just have to search for a doc who is familiar with WHAT SCIENCE SAYS about obesity rather than educating him/herself from the diet monging media (obesity is NOT a risk factor by itself and obese people who exercise have the same risk as normal weight people who exercise and have LESS risk than lean people who exercise - obese people who do not exercise have the same risk as normal weight people who do not exercise and LESS risk than lean people who do not exercise!). Also there is a growing body of evidence which suggests that people who are obese tend to survive surgery and even CHEMO better than those who are lean. Try going to a nurse practitioner... we've had really good experience with these... Meanwhile I'm walking like an old man. OK, I am 56 so I guessthat qualifies me as an old man! <<<<<<<< Attachment: vcard [not shown]
Guest guest
Dear (in a good way :-) ) I am a 350lb woman. I'm doing well after my knee replacement last month. Maybe you should get a second opinion. There are ortho Drs who don't base their work on your weight. I hope you find someone. Good Luck!!
