Guest guest
Hi Audrey,] The Jury is still out as to whether Cealiacs can eat. Oats dont contain gluten but another protein. Some people with dermatis herpetiformis ,( caused by reaction to gluten )a very very itchy distinctive rash can often eat oats but not wheat, rye,or barley . Glutenous rice does not contain gluten. A small proportion of MS people tested have been found to be caeliacs. The Vit D theory uses the fact that all grains( except rice?) contain phytates ..which inhibits vit d metabolism. But the gluten grains contain most phytates. But then you probably already know all this Cheers Louise( oz)
Guest guest
Louise, The only grains I eat are 125g of short grain brown rice daily cool with oils. I put this to soak overnight in the fridge. This makes the rice alkaline. I have only just discovered buckwheat which my body seems to approve of and I have it for breakfast or a snack at night. I eat millet when I feel like it as it is also alkaline forming, for a change. Short grain brown rice should definitely be the one used in bulk especially those with bladder problems as it holds the most water without drinking more. I don't eat oats as I have problems with granola as it is so dry. I don't miss bread any more and the smell of toast now makes me feel sick. I didn't know about the phytates. Guest guest
Audrey My wife is a Celiac yet she eats rolled oats in the morning.Almost every morning in fact,I know it when she eats anything that disagrees with her as she bloats up like six months pregnant almost immediately. So Quaker instant rolled oats works for her at least.
