Guest guest
" Hi Members, My husband had just been diagnosed with optic neuritis, but this was not his first experience with it. His brother and two first cousins have m.s. He is currently waiting for an M.R.I. We are reading everything that we can to try to decide which treatment he will opt for. The news about LDN sounds so encouraging. We were wondering if anyone else had optic neuritis as their initial symptom and how they are doing on LDN. " Hi Donna...just wanted to mention that Optic Neuritis was my first symptom back in 1984 or so. Have had several bouts of it from one eye to the other. I've read that for some reason, when ON shows itself as the first MS symptom that normally means a mild course of MS...not sure if this is true or not. I certainly seemed to have a mild course. I never went back to any doctors after my second bout of ON in 1989 when I discovered the possibility of MS. I decided that an offical DX of MS was certainly not in my best interest. I decided to just go along in life and once the medications came on the scene, I had made a decision to wait until I got bad enough to need them. I truly believe that the very active aerobic exercise that I was into all those years were what kept me from having active attacks. The endorphins that I was creating probably was similar to the LDN that I take now. I am so thankful that I found information about the LDN online while searching out a therapy that I decided was finally necessary back in 2002. You see, I stopped all those wonderful evercise classes for various reasons and within a few years I declined considerably. I am still holding my own but my balance is off and I no longer make plans when I know that a lot of walking would be involved. I also want to say something about those that are asking whether they should take the LDN during the day. Don't think that would be smart as the way it works is to block the endorphins for just enough time right before the peak endorphin producing time that is late at night. Your body then decides that it needs to overproduce them just at the right time. Not sure if my wording makes any sense but I don't think taking it during the day will do anything for you. I've been taking the LDN now for over 2 years now and have not had any further decline. This leads me to beleive that the LDN is doing exactly what it is supposed to do and that is the halt any further progression of my MS.
