Guest guest
Hi Carmel....Yes, I would like very much to go back to class after the surgery. One of the reasons I opted for hip resurfacing, is the chance of being able to do what you did previously without restrictions. Dr.Amstutz in LA is doing the surgery and he has done quite a few dancers and they all have gone back to classes and Starrett, went back to a full on ballet dance career, after a bilateral hip resurfacing. I am an older postmenopausal woman who has osteoporosis. I am 61 years old and have danced since I was five. I love ballroom dance and have had many friends that did this competitvely. I got my MA in modern dance and also spent most of my time taking Jazz classes. The fellow who teaches the class I had been taking, had an anterior THR. He was in great shape older but has had a long recovery. Was your incision posterior or anterior? It sounds like you have done pt exercises....what is the pain coming from? Do you spend time stretching your hip flexors? I stretch everyday since my pelvis is twisted due to the hip and my psoas muscle is really short......Dance is great for you mentally and physically is it not? Much better than lifting weights and running I think....
