Guest guest
Hi all - I have posted a time or two, but have not had surgery at this point. I have a pretty bad right knee, extruded and torn menisci, bone on bone in the inner part of the knee, spurs and bone contusions, etc., but my OS wanted to manage it 'conservatively', saying I was too young for a total knee (I just turned 50). So we tried Supartz injections, which did nothing, and now I have a Varus unloader brace, which causes me so much pain I can't wear the darned thing. They said they can't do a partial knee replacement because my patella isn't in good enough shape. There is a possibility of a double tibial osteotomy, which would leave me totally non weight bearing for at least eight weeks. Crutches are a problem...I had a severely broken wrist last year and still can't put a lot of pressure on my wrist! Anyway, I do understand why they think I am too young for a TKR, because of the number of times it would have to be repeated and bone loss each time, etc., but...aren't I also too young to be CRIPPLED from the pain in my knee!?? What would you guys do? deb g
