Guest guest
Putting the hand flat on the floor should not be a problem, it was one of the questions I asked before I had my hip done. The Doctor said to keep my legs slightly apart, that is the way I picked things up right from the start. Now, I have to consciously bend my knees as I was paranoid about bending my leg at first. Now I am back doing Yoga and coming along nicely I had my surgery March 20th). Although, I really am not sure if there are any restrictions. When I asked my doctor ( after 3 months) if I could do Yoga he said " Yes, but don't get down on the floor " . I pointed out that that would not work, so he asked me to show him that I could get down and back up. I showed him and the only thing he did not like was me twisting my knee inwards, so I try not to do that. I read various articles about Yoga after a hip was replaced, but the restrictions seemed to depend on where the incisions where and my small incision did not match any of them :-(. Does anyone else do Yoga or Pilates? Grace > > Boy, this morning I have learned so much more. Thanks guys. This > is a general post to all the questions and comments since > yesterday. Guest guest
Oh that's good news. My Dr. never said when things would be pretty much back to normal. He lead me to believe the risk of dislocation would extend months...For heavens sake I just have to roll my eyes! Hip Hip Hooray!! (Wow I was worried about gettng back on a horse, never even thought about water skiing..now that scares me. > > I had my 6 week post op appt. last week (for my hip) and they pretty much said to me that nothing will dislocate it at this point except for maybe a bad car accident, or me water-skiing and hitting a huge wake and crashing down onto my hip or something. I asked him why all the precautions of dislocation this far and he said that was because of the muscles being cut and then having to heal, but now that it's been 6 weeks they said there's not much that could dislocate the hip. I'm assuming that's pretty much the case for anyone w/ a hip replacement? >
