Guest guest
Deb great to hear that you are doing so good. This week is the last of mom's PT. She is still working on getting that leg straight. She is just so use to bending that knee to ease the pain that it is going to be a hard habit to break. Hopefully she will keep up the exercises when PT is over with. Some days it seems like only yeaterday my husband was driving me into the hospital parking lot for my surgery. It's been quite a learning process with my new knee and I've gone thru LOTS of ups and downs. But I made it!!I've been noticing things I can do again that I couldn't do right after surgery. I can finally sleep again thru the night, do leg lifts, get out of bed on one foot, shave my legs standing on one foot, curl my good leg up under my TKR one, sit at my dining room table comfortably, get in the car pretty easily, sit in one spot for longer periods, play with my dogs....lots of little things that I can't even list. And NO more throbbing pain 24/7.But the main thing I can do now that I couldn't do even before my surgery is I can stand with my weight evenly distributed on BOTH feet. I haven't been able to do that in years. My legs are the same length again. I'M NOT CROOKED ANYMORE!!! I can't even begin to tell you how thrilled this makes me!!! I may not have the same ROM as everyone else...yet. But I keep working hard on my PT. Even though I do get down in the dumps sometimes about all the hard work, I just feel very, very blessed that I was given the opportunity to have this new life with my new knee. And to have met all of you here, and for all of your support. I thank all of you for that.Deb How low will we go? Check out Messenger’s low PC-to-Phone call rates. Guest guest
It's so good to see someone else shares my exact feelings. I am at the 4 month mark this week and finally becoming more optomistic. It's been a loooong road to recovery but I see the light now. The best thing is the lack of pain in my knee. I've been walking about a half mile a few times a week and there is no pain in my TKA. Now all the other aches and pains are evident.....I can live with them. There is still a lot of stiffness and swelling after exercise but it is getting less and less as time goes by. One thing I've learned throughout this ordeal is that it takes a great deal of patience to recover from TKA. >
