Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I make my infused herbal oils about 3x per year and with the cycles of the moon when possible. There are many different techniques for making a great herbal infusion in oil to get the most of the whole herb. Some people infuse in a bottle in or out of the sun. Some use a blender. Some use cheesecloth attached with a rubber band, some float grain alcohol on the top or actually make their infusion first in alcohol and then add oil. Some people double infuse their infusions. Some use a press and others strain. Some use olive oil and others prefer sunflower or jojoba or sweet almond. Some add Vitamin E. Some use energy and prayer. Some use heat....and so on... Please share with me your favorite techniques for getting the best infused oil and the problems if any (like mold or rancidity) too. Every couple of years I write a newsletter article on infusing and I want to get some more input this time. I do think there is an art to infusing and many different and wonderful styles. I usually like to infuse (each separately) Calendula, Chamomile, Mullein, St. 's Wort, and Arnica. Other nice oils are made from Dandelion, Rosemary, Lavender, Lemon Balm, and others. I use the infusions as part of the carrier oil bases of my aromatherapy oil blends and in making salves, lotions, creams, and balms. I use them in almost everything. Infused herbal oils are GREAT!! I invite everyone to make one if you have not before. Whole Life Essentials.
