Guest guest
Hi all, just a helpful article on finding the right support group etc - some good tips...and in reading it, I know i have joined the right support group, and even though it is about LDN, we here do not push an ideology or force opinions on new members, or ambush other treatments either - its good to know this is the right group to share experiences and keep an open mind. Thank you everyone, for making the LDN forum what it is. Friday Research Before joining a group, it's a good idea to find out something about it. It may not suit you or be what it appears to be. Looks at the group's website or printed information or contact the group directly and ask the following: Is it independent? Some groups are set up by companies to push their products. They may be funded by pharmaceutical companies and other corporations in the health care industry. Others are set up to promote an ideology – they may be trying to discredit a particular treatment for instance, or to recruit patients for a specific research trial. What are the membership fees and charges? How reliable is the information provided? Does it come from a reputable source – a recognised journal, an academic institution, or a group of medical professionals for instance? Is it run by members, and if so, does it have a constitution which lets members have a say in how it's run? Does it have a good reputation? Ask your doctor or someone else who has the same condition as you, what they think of the group.
